Another disappointing performance for reasons discussed ad nauseam.

However ?we?re not Manchester City so we just can?t expect to have strength in depth sitting on the bench? so, all in all, 0-0 was the best we could hope for. Mid-table obscurity beckons.

Poor Didzy looked done at the end. Has he been told not to shoot outside the box?

We had no business not winning that, but it felt like a lack of bravery and quality did it for us. Good as they have been for us, think there will be some hard conversations with Scott and Palmer soon. The Kop had no trust in Gordon and I saw why.

Basically done everything but score today. Bar about 90 seconds deep on in the second half, we kept Newport completely out of our defensive third, let alone our actual 18 yard box.

Should have converted at least one of multiple chances created. From memory, there were three clear chances either well saved or well blocked;

Brown from the Jatta knock down.
McGoldrick from a flapped at corner.
Scott with a header late on.

Austin and Abbott both had efforts that made their GK work. Didzy had one in the first half where he should do much better from about 8-10 yards out and Macari hit the bar from a corner. Also a couple of instances in the second half where we dithered between 12-18 yards out.

All that being said, a deeply frustrating afternoon given that we were so dominant. We made enough chances without JJ and DC to win today.

Im not personally having that today shows a lack of strength in depth? or is evidence of ?poor recruitment?. Totally dominated the game. Created the chances. Concerning pattern of dominating but not winning developing, but not enough to be wetting myself.

Didzy was shooting from outside the box. However, the best chance fell to him with time and space from 12 yards.

I don't know what Maynard thought Gordon was going to do.

What's Scott done wrong in 15 minutes? If you mean the header, he was leaning back to get his brow on it.

Oh well. Onto Peterborough now which is a game we really need to win to generate some money in order to strengthen in January.
