If the 3 and a half week run of wins continues to be the anomaly it has been since Maynard arrived, then on this season's form in the other 13 games we will end up with 64 points. Last season 64 points would have seen us finish 12th.

I'm not a manager but I'm not going to accept that there's nobody else out there who could do a better job than Maynard with the players currently available. He's been here 10 months and he's got the best out of what he's got for 1/10th of that period.

For clarity, what I said is that Notts are an average side, that will not be relegated or promoted. We will finish mid table. When Crowley and Jones are back I don't think Notts will be relegated or promoted.

Leaving those 3 and a half weeks out, his PPG would be 1.06, which would be 49 points over the course of a full season.

In other words, other than late August into the first two weeks of September, it's been relegation form since he arrived.
Come on UTM this is absolute rubbish.
It's just as valid to take the defeats by Gillingham, Port Vale and Crewe out and say we?ve got 28 points from 14 games so that is 2 points a game and guaranteed promotion.
I know that you really dislike Maynard but distorting statistics in this way is doing yourself a major disservice and discredits this branch of mathematics.
As Boomerang says his ppg this season is 1.65.

Either way we are far more likely to be promoted than relegated this season for the obvious reasons.

Of course the most likely outcome is neither which is the same for the vast majority of clubs.
No dimness. For clarity, I think Notts are an average team and will finish mid table. Unless there is a major calamity - like losing nine home games on the bounce again - I think there is no chance that Notts will be relegated. Conversely, if there is a miracle and we win nine games on the bounce, home/away/both, we could get a promotion place or play offs. But, I think Notts will finish mid table.

If those 3 defeats were back to back then that argument would hold a great deal of validity as evidence of us just going through an uncharacteristic and very brief slump.

This is looking increasingly like the Shaun Derry phenomena where a run of 5 back to back wins disguised the trajectory of the campaign.

2011 and 2017, the latter going to 10.

Home games only, it's 5 defeats on the bounce (equalled by Maynard)
    Rochdale hold the record, 14.

Isn?t that just momentum? You get into a habit of winning, as we did, and not winning as we are now.

We have ourselves a depressive statistician.

We're very lucky we can still drag 9,000 through the turnstiles. Grimsby have 5,500 ST holders and were at home the same time as us yesterday and only got 4,900, their fans are fed up with them keep throwing points away at home.
