Yes we have injuries, too many by my account, but still no strength in depth. It's start of Dec and already out of all 3 cups and sliding down the table. Just not good enough!! Spent all out money on the "corporate experience " and not enough on quality on the pitch.
How can the squad have enough depth to cover the absence of JJ, Crowley, Didzy, Edwards, Grant and Robertson? Man City are crumbling without one key player in Rodri, we’ve got at least three key players out.

SM is going to be judged on the league, not a tough away cup tie at Peterborough. Walsall lost 4-0 at home to Charlton today, but I doubt their fans will be screaming SACK THE MANAGER. You?ve got the wrong owners for that kind of message, anyway.
We didn?t need any attacking options on the bench. We didn?t really need anything. We were 2-1 up away at a team who were pressing us extremely high and looked like conceding every time we put the ball forward.

All we needed to do to give ourselves a very good chance of winning was to stop passing the ball in our own third of the pitch. That?s it. That is all. It was very, very simple.

That?s why he has no club, there?s been some great signings Bass etc, but the problem is there are too many ?stocking fillers? / ?lucky dips? season after season.

By better summer recruitment instead of panic signings like Cundy, brown, hinchy and others. All those could have been upgraded

ugh, well we all know his professional background, this was always going to be learning curve for him. There have been highs like Grimsby and Bromley spring to mind, and we're still fifth. Injuries make it hard to tell, but yeah, his curve still seems bumpy.

Add Martin to that list and Grant isn't proven yet either. Our midfield is far weaker this season

Hinchy was excellent today and most of the time he?s started. Good player.

With the injury situation as is and the league being priority, this is possibly a blessing in disguise in that regard, us being able to some extent, rest and or recover what little of a squad we have fit?

I had concerns before the game that even if we pulled of a shock and went through, the potential cost in injuries could put paid to any realistic chance of promotion which would be better for the coffers in the long run than a one off 'glamour' tie.

I agree that some of the signings haven’t been good, but no one ever had a 100% success rate.

We successfully prioritised improving things at the back, but have made some very odd decisions - selling Nemane a day before the start of the season and not having a replacement for his pace; selling ML and loaning out Morias, but not bringing another forward in until the panic signing of an unfit Brown. Martin also smacked of Plan G or H after failing to land our top targets.

A lot of this could have been masked with JJ and DC contributing goals and assists like last season, but their absence has only highlighted those problems.
