He was on the programme cover shaking hands with Kendall having just signed for them, Tony Cottee scored the goal. Who would have imagined then that Kendall would be Notts manager a little over 3 years later.

True, and if anyone dares to say the club lacks ambition, people will point to The Nest and other initiatives that boost our income, but cup runs have always been a way for lower-division clubs to earn extra money and we really are missing a trick by effectively snubbing it. For years we've treated the FA Cup like prime-time Fergie, who preferred the World Club Cup and didn't enter United into it at all back in 2000.

I know we're not likely to win it but we did once and it's part of our history. Obviously, a manager coming from Wealdstone would not understand that but its almost like club policy not to bother.

I?m with you on this. I have a rather strong affection for 1860 Munich and follow their results on a weekly.

If someone says the club lacks ambition then they are clearly wrong in my opinion. In fact quite the opposite. Just look at all the evidence.

Yes they have lacked ambition in the cup competitions for certain but that is your lot as far as I can see. Did they lack ambition or focus in cups when in the National League because all energies rightly or wrongly went into getting out of that league.

Now in League Two that reason is reduced for me and as was the case when we played a strong starting lineup away at Peterborough. Far stronger than the Walsall lineup at home to another Legaue One club in Charlton. They made 5 or 6 changes from the previous league game. That is showing less ambition than us in the FA Cup and concentrating more on the league and tonight?s game

We won the FA Cup at Goodison Park so it would have been good to go there one last time and in the FA Cup would have made it all the more special...

Oh well we can consentrate on the league now and fall further down it!

We signed Brown and Martin, 1 player without a club, and the other that no one wanted.. You cant call those ambitious signings..

You can?t and I wouldn?t want to. However one is only a loan from League One club and the other is on a 3 month contract.

More importantly I would call some of the permanent signings made ambitious especially the ones where we paid money like Jatta from abroad and Bass from Sunderland.

You can certainly call re signing Jodi Jones an ambitious signing

Showing ambition, as opposed to just talking about it, would be having a larger budget than rival clubs that are bigger than you. Notts are currently struggling to compete with clubs averaging 3-5k less than us and having finished 14th last season (lower than both Sutton and Salford did in their first season in the FL).

You think the club only talks about ambition and has not shown it?

That is a lot to digest and prompts many questions.

Who are the club that are bigger than Notts and what are you judging that on?

Notts are struggling to compete (in the top 7 all season) with clubs with smaller attendances do you think that is because of the lack of budget? Or the recruitment? Or the head coach? Or all three?

Did Salford or Sutton change their manager during those first seasons?

Salford have always showed ambition with their budget, same again for this season. I don?t know but suspect it maybe higher than ours

We are more interested in spending thousands on projects like the Nest and Padel Courts.. We got all of that money for the sale of Macca, Nemane and the compo for Williams. How much of that has been spent on new players ? Jatta came from a club owned by the bros, so no actual money changed hands.
