Totally agree about the midfield Al. I know that he scored a deflected goal but, Mowatt looked slow and ponderous tonight. He is there as a playmaker but very rarely produces that telling pass forward and doesn't win many 50/50's.
Swift did well last night when he came on .
Maja was a doubt before the match , looked like he was suffering from illness .
Styles had to come off against Sheff Untd , because of illness .
We enjoyed the match last night COYB
Quite like both Mowatt and Molumby in terms of attitude but think we are all aware of their respective shortcomings.
At the start of the season I had been concerned most at losing Kipre but (a little against expectation I admit) Holgate has done a job and Heggem and Styles in the back four have definitely improved the team.
With goals beginning to come, Grant a completely different player and having Maja and with Dike still to return I think our forward line OK. Have to then agree with Al and others that the key recruitment need in January is for a creative mid fielder with pace. Whether there is anyone on the market to fit both our requirements and budget is another matter of course!
I think both Wallace and Swift looked better than previous games and were ok.
Grant MOTM.
Maja was totally anonymous, illness!?
Back four and Palmer good, as usual.
Johnston and Fellows both caused some problems with their pace and trickery.
No complaints about Molumby or Mowatt either, but, in my opinion it is there we have to strengthen the team. We desperately need a (or two) creative midfielder with pace (and they don?t come cheap, as we know).
Possibly a goal scoring forward as well, if Maja gets injured, loses form etc, and Dike won?t get fit in time. And then the money issue again?
So, please some Pereira and Odemwingie types. 😎
Btw, what I saw from BTA yesterday didn?t make me regret we sold him.
I thought Wallace looked sharp and faster than he has been. Maybe he?s been playing with a niggle which would make sense as his legs shouldn?t have gone at 30.
