    What price Dan Crowley?

It would appear that the only way we will get any money for Dan is if we sell him in January.
I still have hopes that he might renew his contract but they are fading fast.
As a 27 year old League 2 midfielder with a lot of talent, how much is he worth to another club?
I don't have any real idea of actual values so I am just going to guess.
If he had 3 years left on his contract maybe 400k pounds + or -.
Because he will have only 5 months in January maybe 100k pounds.
I know these are probably significantly out but the principle is there.

So is it worth losing 100k pounds (or whatever) by keeping Dan until the end of the season?
Or putting it another way, how much can a club like ours afford to turn down if we are genuinely hopeful of at least a play off place?

We kept Wootton and kept Rodrigues so I would like to think we will keep him. But it is said that everyone has a price.

As he's quite instumental to our promotion ambitions and we're unlikely to see JJ back regular until the end of January it would be stupid to let him go in January I'd say. It's quite a gamble but promotion would be worth more than the ?100k we'd get.

Difficult one. If the club is serious about promotion we have to keep him and let him go in June if he wants to. I don't think the club is serious about promotion this season.

He was the difference against Bradford for sure and without him whilst I would not totally discount promotion if we had Jones and Edwards back I would be sceptical if we can achieve it. I don't think it is worth the bother selling him for 100k. If a far more substantial offer comes in which lets face it is not likely in the Jan window for a player with 6 months on his contract left then I would be very tempted ( 250k+). And only then if we have a really decent loan lined up to replace him ideally ( not that likely). Personally I think he will see his contract out and regardless of promotion or otherwise I think he will be off to the championship. He's at his peak age wise and needs to rise quickly to make the most of his remaining years. Been fantastic for us and I won't begrudge him that one bit.

whose to say what's been going on behind the scenes though. JJ re-signed early. All this DC is unsettled stuff could all be in fans minds.

As to whether the club is serious about this season - it's a bigger question even. Very good pre-season investment in the squad (was it good enough? Only time will really tell), but knowing it would be SM's first season in fully pro football... makes me think you could be right. That said, they'll change their minds if they want and there may well be some cash in the bank, so how aggressive they are in the January transfer window will be a sign of how serious they are now. Of course they could try hard to land targets in Jan, and not succeed.

Similar situation to Rodrigues - he?s too key to our hopes of doing something this season to entertain the kind of offers clubs might make with only six months left on his deal. I suspect he goes on a free in a summer the same as Ruben come what may.

Club have done with JJ what they did with Langstaff and it suits all parties.

Here is a 50% pay rise JJ with a new deal. Here is a clause in your contract with a sell on clause subject to a bid at <insert figure> so keep doing what you are doing and the higher bid comes in if it doesn't oh well we get to keep a great player. If it does we probably get more as the sell on figure will be higher in the deal as he's been great. JJ is happy as he has flexibility and more money agent is happy as he gets his cut club is happy as they have covered their arse and will get max bang for buck with the only risk being he gets injured again. If JJ is a Notts player next season I will be surprised.

If he really wants to go sell him,
we can then use the money to invest for a promotion push next campaign or strengthen the squad if by any chance we are promoted this season.
we gave Woots and Rodders away , live and learn. what is the point of having a possibly disillusioned player on board that could mentally effect them around him with a poor attitude. Having said that hopefully he might sign an extended contact and none of the above would apply.

In all probability Crowleys agent has something in the pipeline, wages with notts could be a factor definitely if he leaves on a free at the end of the season, just like Wootten and Rodrigues did they were definitely poached with a promise of higher wages because they were on a free and that allows transfer money to be used to pay higher wages.
I personally think the figure to prise him away from Meadow lane in the January window would be around 200,000 Pounds. Otherwise keep him although I'm sure he's going at the end of the season for free even if the Magpies get promoted.

I hope he stays. Selling your second best player while your best player is injured would say it all about our ambitions. We're a different side with Crowley playing and he might just be the difference.
