Steve Evans win rate is more or less the same as he left the first time. His first spell after 172 games managed stood at 41.3.
After 29 games managed in his second spell its 41.4. That said his lost rate is much higher at 37.9 compared to 32.6 in his first spell.
Only 5 managers at the club have managed to get over the 40% win rate over the last 100 years. They are the facts.
    Reg Freeman - 48.3
    Ian Porterfield - 45.8
    Mark Robins - 43.4
Ronnie Moore - 41.4 (second spell)
Paul Warne - 41.3 (not including caretaker)
Ive not watched as much as Id have liked this season but some of the football I have seen hasnt looked that bad.
It's a good point although different circumstances. First time around he was managing with the advantage of the NYS effect although without doubt he did an excellent job with back to back promotions and by our standards a 'comfortable' season in the Championship. He even started fairly well the following season before whatever happened behind the scenes happened and he bade us farewell. This season is the first time he's really had to manage us in adversity so we'll see how it pans out. He's never taken us down and I don't think he will this season but he won't (thankfully?) take us up either.

Coincidentally it will be 10 years next month since I saw my first ever game at NYS which was during SE's tenure. That day we lost 5-1, were played off the park and I had the 'pleasure' of being sat close to the dugouts. I saw first hand a manager/assistant ranting and raving at our players whilst on the other side a young and upcoming manager stood quietly offering encouragement and advice to his players. Yesterday in League 1 we lost 1-0 at Mansfield. Today, our opponents that day won 3-0 at Old Trafford in the PL. Oh what a difference 10 years, good management, extensive investment and severe bending of FFP rules can make.

I think people are forgetting the amount of loan players he had in his last tenure..he was here around 3 and a half years I think, and someone said he loaned 88..sounds a lot but I'm sure someone will check it out, point I'm trying to make is, you can't do that now, and these loans contributed heavily to 2 promotions..I can't even relate to this team at all and apart from Powell and odoffin, the rest seem to be much of a muchness, Peterborough let Clarke Harris go for a reason, same with Rafferty and raggett from portsmouth.. we're in a right tangle..

I remember that game, think it was FA cup and I think we also scored first. Remember listening to SE on radio, angry and how bad , unacceptable our performance was.
Whilst disappointed after starting well, my reaction was a bit different like, crikey how good were they. We could barely find a pass to make, they were so good. In fact I would say one of the best performances I’ve ever seen against us. They went on to piss the league that year.

Almost : I believe the total number of players brought in, permanent and loanee, totalled 88.

A quote from the big lad...
" We just had a different opinion in terms of where we were going in terms of recruitment,? said Evans who has just returned with number two Paul Raynor for a second spell in the hot-seat at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Gone the opposite way now, can't even get 22 outfield players lol.

Steve Evans could have used the free agent transfer[s], to fill the void this time around,
on short term contract, up to the January 2025 transfer window.
There are players out there wanting a wage, be it a short one.
