In earlier threads I said that I would wait till Christmas to make my mind up about whether to sack Maynard or not. My view is that he could do better but I wouldn't sack him now. No promotion at end of season it's sack time.

I was shocked by the Salford debacle (and worried by the trends I thought I saw in the games leading up to that) and might have possibly agreed with this if I hadn't seen how the players responded under SM's management. As it is, I think the only reasonable response is to back SM now. He's improved so much since last season, why would you think he would stop improving next season?

And I'm much more confident about promotion after yesterday than I was at the start of the season.

I think the bloke is going alright. No, I don’t think it’s sack time if he doesn’t achieve promotion. No guarantee any future appointment is going to do any better.

Regardless of circumstances? Never mind, not your decision.

Why should a bloke be sacked when he doesnt have a top 7 budget ?

Its not like we'll finish 22nd if we finish top 10 I doubt they'd even think about sacking him.

Also why isnt RM being put under pressure ? In Europe people in those roles have to face the music but in England they hide away in their cushy number.

Why are we even deciding who to sack when we are second in the table off the back of three wins with tremendous performances and good players coming back from injury?

Seems like a time to just enjoy it, for me at least.

The whole notion of replacing Maynard is ludicrous. He's doing fine. Bumps in the road there has been. More bumps there will be. But there are less bumps than there were. There were plenty of those getting out of non league it took FOUR seasons for a club hugely resourced for the level. If he can get us in the play offs this season then I would see that as a good job, if he can achieve direct promotion or promotion via the playoffs then I would see it as an excellent job. Those are the medium term benchmarks as fans we need to look for. If we fail to get in the playoffs this season for reasons other than injuries I would see that as not really acceptable. Another season at this level would be a bigger test for him as he almost certainly won't have Dan Crowley and probably not Jodi Jones.

The more he proves me wrong the happier I am.

The last few games have been attacking exciting fare.

    Long may it continue.

    Forza Maynard.

Why should he be put under pressure? As far as I can see overall he has recruited well each season. He and his team have identified money making players and head coaches including our biggest sale and profit for how low? Steve Finnan or earlier?

Also when compared to the recruitment prior to his arrival he is practically a genius. Never forget what happened when recruitment was decided by our latest manager or worst still an over enthusiastic and hands on chairman.

    How quickly some forget

Exactly where I'm at, and I have said two things repeatedly on this issue.

    1. I can't see Stuart Maynard leading us to success.
    2. I would love him to prove me wrong.

I'm wavering on point 1, but still rock solid on point 2.
