After the horrendous recent run of results, questions really have to be asked about the true character of the core group of players in the team. Its all very well pushing for a winner to preserve an unbeaten run when the supporters are cheering every tackle or pass, but maintaining that never say die attitude when the team is going through such a horrendous period is more difficult, though that is precisely when the players all need to stand up and be counted. That simply isnt happening. To add to my concerns, it also looks as if Mackenzie, McGrath and Due will be away soon and that would undoubtedly weaken the team. Although I hope that Im wrong, I also have a concern that the players may no longer be buying into Thelins laid back management philosophy and his persistent reluctance to criticise decisions that unfairly go against us, or just to get visibly angry every now and again, as thats always been part of the DNA of Scottish football. Theres also too many lightweights in our team who dont have enough desire and aggression in my view and that includes Clarkson (for all that hes quite skilful) and Polvara. A lack of pace and not infrequent mistakes from Ruby (and sometimes Molloy) in defence and also from Nilsen in the sitting midfield role is also noticeable, particularly against teams that attack us at speed. I hope that 2025 results in a change of fortunes for the team, but aside from requiring new players, everyone in the team needs to try harder and to step up and make that happen as we have been far too passive in recent weeks.
Back in the 90s Dumbarton beat the PJMs at Boghead with a Martin Monney wonder strike to put them top of the Championship
They then went on the worst losing streak in European football spanning a few years which only ended when they finished bottom of the 3rd division for the first time in their 120 year existence
Losing becomes a habit
Too much over-thinking going on. It is a bad patch, the January transfer window is never very profitable. Heids up and get the vuk on with it.
Exactly.
When we beat Dundee at dens at the start of the season, two Dundee season ticket holders I work with were p*ssed off they got beat.
I told them that being in their 60s, they ken very well you lose games you deserve to win and win when you deserve nothing. It's fitba. I also said our luck would turn to sh*t at some point.
We've been here many times before and maybe keeping the heid at the moment and trusting the manager we will come out the other side in a better place.
Until we stop playing McGrath wide left, or at all for that matter as he's clearly chucked it with his contract running down, we'll win F all. Keskinen is a natural left winger and if he's playing, should always start there. Badly needing a striker to start scoring goals and keep a run in the team to build confidence upon. Sokler unlucky to not have a well taken goal yesterday.
That's just the attacking issues, let's not get in to our defence. Actually I will, McKenzie needs dropped too for the same reason as McGrath. Nowhere good enough to be playing hard to get. Molloy better yesterday. Rubi starting to annoy me with how little aerial presence he has despite being a big ba$tard. Too many goals being conceded from high balls. Have we scored from a corner since the opening day of the season?
With all that being said, I'll be there Thursday.

No, we're not. But we're not as bad a group of players as this run of results suggests.
Similarly, we were never as good a bunch of players as the early season run suggested.
We need to stop the bleeding though but at the moment it's hard to see where a win is coming from.
on our current run of results I will take a 0-0 right now.
A clean sheet would be great, will steady the ship (a wee bit) then on to Fir Park on Sunday and the winning run starts from there with another clean sheet.

I've said countless times our squad is decent for the league, if a little imbalanced.
Both players and the manager have made howlers during our current run, but they will bounce back. Some players will be away and will hopefully allow the manager to strengthen the squad with the right players.
Easier said than done mind. I don't buy into the 'easily replaced' nonsense a lot of our fans say when talking about players.
If you had asked me back in July my thoughts on us going into 2025 in third place I would have laughed. I would have thought top six, but not up in third.
That winning run we were on was a millstone around our necks and title talk was just stupid. Although it was nice to dream at times too.
