Forgive me if you’ve previously answered this DB buddy…what was your connection/draw to WBA ?

In my case, I was born in Yorkshire (Harrogate) and family moved to Midlands in 1954. I remember going to my new school that year and being asked which Football Club I supported. I said I didn’t have one and the lad asking the question said you should support WBA they are a great side. And so it began….

A Johnny Giles story…
Many years ago, maybe 30/40 years ago, I played golf with him in an invitation event at Edgbaston. There was an evening dinner and I went home after golf and later returned to join him for the dinner. I took with me a photo of my two sons (then aged circa 10) in their Albion kit. I asked Johnny to sign the back and make some remarks which he willingly did.
The following morning as our lads got up, I said that I had got Johnny Giles to sign the back of their photo. They said …thanks Dad….who’s Johnny Giles?

A Johnny Giles story?

Nice story.....I believe he still resides in the midlands although he may not now be in great health. He was a pundit over here for Irish internationals until a few years back. One of the few who spoke about the game in a simplistic way. He never had time for showy footballers. Always banged on about doing the simple things correctly. Closing down etcetera...
I probably stopped watching internationals after he went of air.
