I'm not sure I understand this subtle difference. Is a wingback, a defender who tracks forward like a winger.
But a winger, is an attacker who tracks back like a defender?
I'm sure many of us don't! It all used to be so simple!

My understanding is that wingbacks cover the entire wing in both a defensive and attacking capacity. Wingers, on the other hand, are attacking players and will usually have another player behind them (i.e. a full back) to cover defensive duties.
If I were a wingback, I'd ask for a raise!
