Nowhere SM prefers to play him on the right so Austin might be the one to give way.

I know it sounds odd but until Austin has a shocker or gets an injury - I don't think he should be displaced from the XI. He's showing his best form and confidence since arriving and whilst I was convinced he didn't have the physicality to cope in this league - his endeavour and tenacity combined with the upturn in form shouldn't be rewarded by benching him for a new signing.

Can?t imagine SM will want to unsettle a winning team so expect bench at most at the weekend. Not even sure wingback is necessarily where we?ll see him play.

Given Will can play in so many positions and roles, I suspect he will, after the usual period of not being seen in matches while he gels with the team and tactics in training, be the fill-in for whoever's injured or tired, with some adjustments to tactics made to slot him in where needed.

If he proves himself in that role, he will see more regular starts.

    Just a guess.

It doesn't seem odd to me. It seems like good man management. Austin has performed well and deserves his place and any new signing should have to earn their place and fight for a place in the team. Plus any new signing has not had chance to train with or get to know their team mates either.

This is why we are in a good position at the moment because the team is performing well and that means the likes of JJ can make a phased introduction back into the fold and same for any new signing.

I agree. And also, given the sharp improvement in his performance, what's his ceiling?

Absolutely no harm in starting with a positive outlook on any new signing especially one who we know next to nothing about

competition for places should be really good for us, especially as Grant and Edwards regain fitness. I thought Nick Tsaroulla showed glimpses of brilliance too - although his shooting could improve - another area SA has clearly worked on.

back to Jarvis - highlights the importance of Didzy at Notts to me. He won't thank me for calling him an older statesman, but he definitely has that air about him. Honestly was disappointed in his performance last season, but he's been an absolute GOLIATH this one! Really hope he gets a coaching role at Notts.

Given how that particular story ends, I’m glad he’s a David.
