Well that worked out well didn't it! We ended up with a real mixed bag of has beens and never will bes. More haste less speed?
In this window we appear to be back to our usual slow method of operating but, like Derby, I suspect the reasons are more about finances than doing thorough checks on the quality and character of potential incomers.
January is always a difficult window anyway but SE has already sent out the warning messages about not recruiting any superstars (when have we ever done that?) so maybe we should just accept that this season will be a non-event and then see what happens to season ticket renewals next season.
