Could be if Evans decides to keep Wilks, he could be counted as 1 incoming player, then if Kayode is not found a club, he would be counted as a 2nd incoming player.

We have had a lot of activity 5 players left and the return of a loan player by the other club.Evans stated that his bench last night had a couple of academy players (his words) to fill the bench. He is referring to Hatton and Hull, so it is fair to guess he doesn't see them as main squad players. At the moment if we got a couple more injuries we would struggle to have a full match day squad and yet we hear the phrase 2 or 3 potential incomings.

I understand your points, but I don't think that is the case. Evans has stated that there are clubs who have already voiced an interest in taking Kayode, I suspect that once his thigh injury is ok (stated 10 days) he will be off. personally I do not think he should be sent out until we have brought players in, we might need cover and I would play him instead of Hugill if he stays.
After relegation the board will have signed off a financial plan and that will have included a budget for playing staff, SE will know what that budget is and what it meant to him for the summer transfer window. being that the only person that speaks in the press is SE we have no option but to either ignore what he says or take on face value that what he says is true. I am not a huge SE fan but I do think he is being put forward as the front man to take all the heat.
So at the end of the summer window SE stated that he made a decision not to take on players that had been approved by the board on the last day. From that we can assume that the players budget was not fully allocated by the end of the window. My theory is that since the push for promotion has taken a hit from the poor first half of the season, the board have decided to reduce the playing budget this window and pocket any revenue from sales. I will give the Stewarts the benefit of the doubt and say that the money is being pocketed by the club to deal with ongoing running costs and debt reduction, pure speculation on my part.
We have seen 5 players leave and none come in, we are told that players out on loan will stay out or be returned out on loan. We are also told that we will not be bringing in any superstars (implies no transfer fees) and only 2 or 3 incomings. We know that Tiehi was on a good wage so realistically it is unlikely that the 3 coming in are an increase in wages over the 5 going out. With none of the out of contract players being offered new contracts it is fair to guess that the board have made a decision to drop the original playing budget for the second half of the season.
The interesting bit for me will be what SE says in his interviews if he doesn't get what he wants and sees that the support that he was promised is not there.
All speculation but after all this is what this board is about, opinions, speculation and discussion.
To your post, about what Steve Evans has been promised, which of course is speculation, we would need to be a fly on the wall, to know.
But when Steve Evans left last time, it was said he & Tony Stewart had different views of a way forward.
We will have to see what comes out of the cooking pot, in the January transfer window, either loans, or even short to the end of the season contract.
To a player who does not have a club, a short contract is better than none.
It's interesting isn't it that most people were pleased when we started recruiting really early in the last transfer window and some described it as "refreshing" compared to the relative slowness of recruitment under previous managers.
I also remember fans of some rival clubs being worried that we were getting ahead of the game and saying we were nailed on for promotion.
Well that worked out well didn't it! We ended up with a real mixed bag of has beens and never will bes. More haste less speed?
In this window we appear to be back to our usual slow method of operating but, like Derby, I suspect the reasons are more about finances than doing thorough checks on the quality and character of potential incomers.
January is always a difficult window anyway but SE has already sent out the warning messages about not recruiting any superstars (when have we ever done that?) so maybe we should just accept that this season will be a non-event and then see what happens to season ticket renewals next season.
We have no Devine right to go straight back up mellow. I think the goal posts have changed from when SE first came back. Too much over promising of been up there happened.
I?m ok with a consolidation season personally it happens a lot we just haven?t had it for a while we?ve either gone up or down.
Season ticket sales will be fine because people like you a loyal supporter will be there.
2-1 millers tomorrow you heard it here first. 😁
I agree we have no divine right to go straight back up Pocket and although, in my opinion, the league is quite poor this season, I'll be really surprised if our squad gets anywhere near the play offs.
However, our motor mouth manager has said we will challenge and that his teams always do better in the second half of the season. Both seem really unlikely particularly as he's dialled down on his recruitment expectations. We will see.
As far as season ticket renewals go I think SE may have run out of road this time after so many previous hyped up statements so your optimism is probably misplaced and about as reliable as your 2-1 predictions 🙂
