How Maynard went from 'man in a van' to Notts boss

It is not often a club could turn to its head coach to fix issues with its broadband. Not that the Magpies have - yet.

"Oh yeah, I'm fixing the wi-fi all the time," Maynard laughed as he went on to explain the club's IT team is safe from interference.

"There is the odd joke about if the internet goes down in the office, but I haven't yet been asked, or it hasn't got to the critical stage of being without the internet long enough. But if we were down for long enough, then potentially."

Interesting article about Stuart Maynard on the BBC website now > https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/cn0yxjdeknjo

'"When we first came in, I think I learnt more in those opening three to six months than I have in all my managerial career," he told BBC Sport.'

That's the part that really sticks out to me. We need to remember that managers and coaches are on a learning curve too. We can probably expect him to continue to improve.

Obviously the side he has now is better than last season's too, so long as we don't get too many more injuries. We're not quite as strong offensively, but nowhere near as frail defensively.

It's sad that some people use the fact he was managing a football club and holding down a full-time job as a stick to beat him with rather than applauding him for what is a remarkable achievement. I genuinely hope it works out for him here. So far, so good, despite a very rocky start.

That is really positive - it shows he didn't come here and then have an attitude of there was nothing for him to learn.

I think the brothers know what they are doing.

Exactly, I said that a while back, if you can?t respect someone that?s totally grafted to get where they have, who can you respect? By all means state you don?t think they have the capability but cheap shots probably say more about the posters themselves.

BTW, this is not a cheap jibe at ST - I really think the story could be a film or tv drama
