Thread: Charlton Athletic Post Match Thoughts

  1. #11
If it had been 7-0 no one would have complained, the last 2 games we have out-classed 2 of the so called better teams,no way that would have happened a month ago.
By ditching the front 3,and playing Cam at CDM we have been transformed, plus MacDonald looks a decent player,we are still lacking in squad depth....no other right back, only one real left back,so we really do need at least another 3 players in,but just enjoy the moment,I think we deserve it !

Charlton thought they just had to turn up. They threw towel in when when they could see it wasn't going to be that easy. We dominated but that wasn't difficult to do today.

Team effort 10/10, I forgive Bramall for his silly mistake with the sheer effort he put in today that compensated for it.

Well that was probably the best ever display from the lads all season that even betters the Posh game. A simple formula has brought all this on by simply not playing Clark- Harris and hoofball. Is it fair to say we played 80% ish on the floor today and passed around and through them at times and with ease?

Simple football, a brilliant all round team effort showing countless energy and application, with the fans getting behind the team. It all bodes well moving forward IF we can keep everyone fit. You can't look to the bench now thinking so and so is great to bring on because it ain't a very good bench at the moment, we saw that at Chesterfield when they all started.

We are not world beaters and we will get beaten again but, so long as the lads apply themselves like today then I'll take that anytime. Let's also not get over complacent at Burton next weekend just because they are at the foot of the table. They are scrapping to stay in this league so it won't be a rollover.

I thought Evo would have given it the fist pump to the fans but he shot off down the tunnel having shook Nathan Jones' hand in order to do the radio interview. To end the day I had 9 bets in total on todays game. 5 @ 1 pound each didn't come in but the following did:

Wilks to score anytime in 90 mins 5 pound @ 3/1
Jules to score anytime with 1 pound @ 25/1
Green to score first with 1 pound @ 9/1
Green to score anytime with 4 pound @ 7/2

Thanks lads that paid me 58 pounds profit. I never gamble large, that way it don't hurt if you lose. Yes it was a great afternoon to be a Millers fan and go home with a smiling face

    You spout some bollax.
Not many teams in league 1 could have lived with us today.
    Fantastic on the front foot.
Credit to Mr Evans. And maybe some on here would like to give him some credit for once ?
    MOM Powell for me.

Slightly longer arms for Tony now? Slightly shorter pockets? There's only one way to underpin this?

I said it after Bolton and I say it again now. Isn't it about time we started saying WELL DONE MR EVANS? This was a dominant performance all over the pitch. The scoreline flattered Charlton. We should/could easily have had 6 or 7. I can't fault any player but I will single three out. Powell. What a tremendous signing this lad is proving to be. His stamina and commitment are tremendous. Wilkes. Yes he is a tad selfish but Charlton's goons couldn't cope with him.Rafferty. Didn't put a foot wrong. But really I could name everyone who wore our red shirt with pride and commitment today. I thought we might miss Nombe's running but Green stepped up. Something miraculous has happened

That was really good to watch.Just shows, play Hacks in his best position and we have the best two central defenders in this league by far with the impressive Zak Jules.Humprhreys looks a natural, playing in that holding midfield role where he is giving Powell that more attacking freedom .Joe in turn is able to blend in with front two who are quick and skillful to cause defences problems throughout. All of this team we saw today, were committed to winning, by playing for each other.I noticed whenever the player with the ball,he was not short of options to pass it to because each player supported him and helped to create that move.We have got a team that has bonded.we must NOT allow any more players to leave this club .What we MUST do is offer improved contracts to Cam and Hacks. We have the money that we received on recent sales.Come on we can do this.

Well, i was like many saying that SE/PR had to go before Xmas. Now they've had the to guts to change the silly line up and system we had to watch for over 20 games. Today was a real breath of fresh air, Evertime we went forward they were struggling.

Too many candidates for the MOM, well done everyone............UTM.

P.S. We were always called a big team, Charlton were giants.........we looked like ants today.

Absolutely agree. Get your wallet out Tony. I'm one of your biggest fans. But these contracts need to happen if we are to progress. Utm

Really enjoyed today. After last season, all I wanted was to attend games and be entertained and excited; promotion wasn't on my wish list.
We've now had two great home performances on the bounce where we've dominated respected teams and there's been an energy and confidence about the squad that has been lacking for the first half of the season.

Forgive me for being a cynic, but the players we fielded today have been with us all season. However, up until Christmas, we were treated to some awful hoofball tactics revolving around immobile CFs; JCH and Hughill. However, over the last few games we have enjoyed the genius move of Cam into midfield and the deployment of mobile, energetic forwards. This has allowed all the team to play to their potential and the improvement in the likes of Powell has been immense. I credit SE for changing our system but I do have to ask why it took so damn long?

Anyway, not going to worry about that as we're now moving in the right direction. Tickets in the bag for Birmingham and really looking forward to the next few weeks which should see us climb to a respectable level and possibly inch further towards another day out at Wembley.

    Onwards and upwards!
