If Notts are holding out for £1m and they get offered that, as many have already have said, that is an awful lot of money.

We are definitely a striker short as it stands. If Jatta were to go, bringing in two new forwards in January would be a gamble.

I have no doubts Radar have lists for all positions and options for all eventualities at whatever time of the season. Our strike rate for recruitment has has generally been very good so that all provides plenty of hope.

With all that said, I still think bringing in two strikers, who would have to play a good number of minutes between now and the end of the season, is a gamble.

If Jatta were to go, I would expect some very solid investment at the top end of the pitch before the end of the window on players with a bit of pedigree. Nothing marquee or silly, but if Jatta went and was to be replaced by players of a similar profile to Whitaker and Jarvis, I would be disappointed.

That is not to say I do not rate younger players with less experience, or Jarvis and Whitaker specifically. I am a firm believer in the Radar model and giving young players the opportunity, time and space to develop with us and have regularly argued this. But I do not think it is unjustified to expect solid investment should Jatta go.

What also gives me hope of a good replacement(s) is that Radar do not specially sign young players from academies. In the summer we needed strengthening at the back; Bass, Platt, Bedeau, McDonald, Tsaroulla, Gordon and Cundy (with the jury being out on the last two). All decent ages with good experience at our level, not kids.

It is not our money and that skews our thinking. Unless we get an offer of over £1m, I would stick.
