    Anyone know ?

It wasn't the first time I saw Burnley, but it was the game that started a lifelong love affair with the club, November 1959, Burnley 8 Forest 0, and like last night we were 5-0 up at half time.

In the intervening 60 odd years, has there been any other game where we were 5-0 up at half time ? Maybe there has but I can't remember one.

I was there Sinkov, remember it well. I don't remember any other 5-0 at half-time. I think we were 4-0 up against City once and tied 4-4 at home.

22 January 1966 we played Bournemouth, then in the 3rd Division, away in the FA Cup and drew 1-1.
On Tuesday 25 January 1966 the replay took place at the Turf. We went 5-0 up in the 44th minute when Andy Lochead scored his 4th goal of the match, Willie Irvine having also scored in the 22nd minute.
We went on to win 7-0 with andy adding his fifth goals and Gordon Harris scoring very late in the game.

Strangely enough we had also been 5-0 ahead of New Brighton in the FA Cup on 26 January 1957 when we went on to win 9-0.

I have been unable to find any league game where we were 5-0 up at half time, although in the halcyon days of the 50s and 60s we were 4-0 up in several games.

Cheers Sub, I can always rely on you. I was at Bournemouth for the 1-1 draw, so I presume I was at the replay, but I can't remember anything about it. I did try to find the HT score when we beat Penrith 9-0 but I haven't been able to find it.

Penrith was 17 November 1984 and we were just 2-0 up at half time --both scored by Kevin Hird.

I have found one league game when we were 6-0 ahead at half time and that was on 26 November 1983 in Division 3 when we beat Port Vale 7-0.
First half goals from Hamilton, Reeves, Hutchinson, Flynn and Donachie saw us winning 5-0 after just 27 minutes and then Kevin Reeves added another right on half time to make it 6-0 and then scored his third in the 49th minute to complete the scoring.

Strange looking at the dates of these big wins. Forest was 21 November and Port Vale was 26 November.and Penrith was 17 November.
The other cup matches took place on 25 January and 26 January.
I wonder when the next one will occur ----Monday night?

It's funny how the old napper plays tricks on you. I thought we were 5-0 up at half time against Penrith. We even got a free pass out of the ground to go and have a pint at half time.

I was checking to tell sinkov and discovered it was only 2-0 at half time. Odd.
