If anyone wants evidence that the *black and white traffic cone mob* exists - this thread is exhibit A.

I think the short term problem if Jatta is sold is getting someone in up and running at such short notice (the best option would be Langstaff on loan but that is very unlikely), any club wanting to sell a player of quality will jack up the price knowing Notts now have a bit of cash from a sale, the process of bringing someone in unknown is risky, for the Langstaffs and Jattas, there is a Kairo Mitchell and Lewis Knight. For me, I would resist there is a great chance of getting out of this league this season.

I bet there are far more of the black and white traffic cone mob at the game today than the never happy fear the worst bedwetters. Call that exhibit B

He's on 12 goals after 25 games but missed a few games due to concussion and international duty. He's probably going to finish around or just under Macca's total of 28 goals for the season, and Macca was seen as the crown jewel, the new Vardy.

This might be heresy but I think he's faster and stronger than Macca, gets involved in the build up more, and can score more different types of goal compared to Macca. I'm not surprised there are several clubs interested in him.
This shouldn't be heresy, it's there for us all to see.
Personally, I'd hate to revisit those Maca games where he did little else other than all that great pressing. When you're not scoring, you have to contribute in the build up and I don't think that improved enough during his 2 years with us. Some, but not enough.

I also wouldn't like to see it for Maca's sake. "Never go back and all that'', especially when it's bouncing back down 2 levels after just 4 months. I'd like him to rejoin us one day when he's found his exact level and maybe that coincides where we are too.

Players can become heroes to many and it's hard to continually watch them leave.

Sustainability is not solely financial, the calibre of playing staff in order to 'sustain' our status on the next rung of the ladder is crucial as well so selling players who would be competent at a higher level is surely, counter intuitive? If we sold Jatta for a million and missed out on promotion, how would that balance out in the long run against what would be higher gates, probably more tv money and more sponsorship?
I see your point and it?s a valid one. You have to try and get the balance between financial stability and footballing sustainability which isn?t easy and am certain the owners are debating in detail at times like this.

Is there any evidence of young fans tiring of the revolving door of our best players arriving and departing?

I would say that the our crowds have grown hugely because of the owners more than any one incredible season. It?s their appointment of head coaches, recruitment of players and investment in the club that has seen crowds grow to unbelievable levels for league two.

Because of the owners the young fans have got to enjoy
    Wootton and Rodrigues
    Langstaff and Jones
    Jatta and Crowley

Not bad. Nobody is getting tired of watching those pairings. Why won?t that trend continue?

I or lots of others I on here have never said all that!! But we are entitled to say selling Jatta is not the right move now and that promotion this season is the daily within our grasp. We can then consider selling him post season and continuing on with all the good work the bros have done so far. Just because we question one decision or express a view different to others on here doesn't make us anti change or anti bros

We're sitting 5th in the league a point of automatic with less than a week of the transfer window. Who in their right mind would sell a player like Jatta if they're serious about promotion this season??? Lets get promoted first eh before doing something that silly.

Plymouth have just got ?6m for one of their players, more spare cash perhaps to increase their offer?

There is another issue that no one has mentioned. ?The Elephant in the room?
Unfortunately Florist are starting to look odds on for European football of some sort next season, even possibly Champions League. The local and regional media are already in overdrive.
The effect is that all other clubs around are already having much reduced coverage. What it might be like next season God knows?
We have to try and raise our profile and achieving promotion would be a big morale booster. Something for Notts fans to be proud of and happy about whilst the Red Dogs swagger around.
Keeping Jatta doesn?t guarantee promotion but losing him certainly doesn?t help. It has to be worth the risk.
Or we could settle for financial security and 4th tier mediocrity.
