Whilst Ruby had a shocker, I do have some sympathy. Looking at the list of injuries to our defensive players, and Jack McK only just returning from same, I can understand options were limited .... resulting in Ruby being played on the left and effectively 'thrown under the bus'. Ah'm pretty sure if McGarry had been fit, Jensen would have slotted in at LCB.
Other than the injured Molloy, we don't have a recognised LCB, so who's to say any other option would have fared better than Ruby? (Well, we can all 'say' .. of that there is no doubt).
Yeah, I know, hindsight is always 20/20 ... but when I saw the team sheet .. before a ball was kicked ... my only real concern was that Ruby was on the left ... I honestly thought the BBC had got it wrong ... as they do now and again.
Surely if, due to the aforementioned limited options, it would be better to play Ruby to his 'strengths' and play Tobers on the left - as he would have adapted far, far better with the change of position .... but hey, what do I know? Ah'm jist a punter![]()
Ruby's request to be replaced? Is it poss that he was just being honest? ... "hey boss ... Ah canna cope playin' on the left, an' canna cope wi' this Olasanya dude .... get somebody else on or it'll be 0-6 afore the half time pies are in the micro!"
