Thread: Diangana

    Diangana

    What's to do with him?

Is he just playing better because his contract's up?
Do we try and keep him? Does he want to stay....his body language after scoring is shocking

He's given us sweet FA up to the last handful of matches, but do we roll the dice with him one more time with a manager that is likely to get the best out of him?

I might be in the minority, and he did have a cracking match, but I still feel he?s quite average.

We can?t forget, as good as the result was, it was against a Pompey team that have just been promoted, never win away from home and rested 5 key players.

I like him but against a top 10 side he tends to be quiet. Given his wages I don?t mind if he goes. If he reduces the wages I don?t mind it he stays.

He has certainly looked better since Mowbray’s arrival and I think he his aware that the new Manager has a high regard for him. I don’t feel he has any great allegiance to WBA, or at least doesn’t show it as other teammates do, and would leave without any doubts should the package be attractive.
The devil you know maybe the sensible view, but on balance I would let him go.

I think most of us recognize that Diangana has talent but the problem is that he has both been highly inconsistent and frequently too lightweight and pushed off the ball far too easily.

Listening to TM so far, he does seem to rate Grady and if there is one player who can perhaps improve most under Mogga it is him. If he can rise to that challenge then, under the current circumstances, it may be best to keep him. As Mowbray rightly points out, you aren't looking at just trying to get a good first IX, you need depth of squad in order to select the best team to match particular opponents and if he can continue to put performances in like yesterday's then I think we are better off keeping him.

Goal celebrations can be a very crude way of displaying club allegiance. The whole kissing the badge thing is almost embarrassing in the modern game. I like the low key celebration. So not bothered how any player celebrates a goal as long as we keep scoring them.

It's all about artists, soldiers and lovely soft feet if I remember correctly 😉.

I'm glad he played well and hope he does so until the end of the season. But he's not the type of player for me who would get into the side I want us to become.

I'd like us to be a solid Premier mid table team in the future, like what we were 10-12 years ago. Diangana is not good enough to be at that level. In fairness most of our players aren't, but he has high wages and regularly flatters to deceive.

The proof will be in the pudding, once his contract is up. Is he likely to get a move and start regularly for a team better than us? I can't see it. He might get a prem move and become a squad player, but there's no way he starts regularly for any premier league team right now in my view.

According to reports he is keen to move to Celts Vigo and that a deal has been agreed. Whether this is paper talk or not, I would be sorry to see him leave. I know that many on here will be happy to see him go but I feel that under TM he could be a great asset to us in the future. I am hoping that this is just paper talk but I feel that it is more than that.

If he signs a pre contract ,I wouldn't play him again .
We don't want a Johnny Evans ,when he coasted through games to avoid injury because of his low fee clause,if we got relegated .

If reports are correct, Diangana has already turned down a new contract with us which would be either an indication that he thinks he is worth more or else that he wants to leave.

I can't see Celts Vigo paying £3m to sign Diangana in this transfer window when they can pick him up for free at the end of the season unless, of course, they really are desperate to sign him. If that is the case then, as Soulman points out, we will want to avoid the Johnny Evans scenario. That will all depend on the attitude of Diangana himself of course but I can't think TM will put up with any "coasting" from any player in any case.

Like many, prior to the appointment of Mogga, I would have been quite happy to have been able to have sold Grady on but agree with Leics that it's now a bit of a pity if he does go as TM may be able to get more out of him and make him a genuine asset.
