    I'd go with those.

We don't seem to be able to perform for 90 minutes. First half they were there for the taking, second half we were chasing shadows and could barely string a pass together. It was crying out for a change.

    I'll kick off ratings -

Bass - 6 Not much to do but error for the goal, should have come for it.

Bedeau - 6 Please don't put him at wing back again. Brilliant as defender , very average as wing back

    Platt - 7 Dependable all night .

Sunderland Lad ( sorry brain not working due to frustration ) - 5.5 some great runs forward first half but a comedy error for their goal.

McDonald - 6 So do left footed it's laughable, mops up a lot almost like a sweeper , but always worrying if in his right foot

Gordon - 5 Some decent crosses into the box but another who went AWOL in second half.

Abbott 7 - My MoM At least tried to keep the forward momentum but just not enough happening around him

Grant 6 - Decent first half and took the game to Vale but went missing second half as did most of midfield.

Palmer 6 - Ok, did all the simple stuff well but quality into the box from service pieces not really good enough .

Edwards 4 - Did ok first half but not really sure what he offers going forward. Dead on his feet and utter liability second half. Still not convinced by this guy.

Jatta - 5 Not his day . Poor miss first half, isolated for large parts of the game and no decent service.

Subs - Tsaroulla 6.5 - Did inject some pace and forward urgency but I really would like to see him take on more players and have a shot or two.

Hinchy - 5 - Did he do anything after coming on?

Traore - Wont score him as not long enough but oh boy he should have put that header away.

Maynard 4 - Yes we are short of players ( but his training regime has to take some criticism for that ). Got it wrong tactically second half. Made subs far too late when pendulum had swung in their favour. I really would like to be a fly on the wall for his half time talk because more often than not we come out bloody worse.

Those seem about right to me. Tough team to pick tonight , but Edwards and to a lesser degree Grant were passengers and Maynard still has difficulties coping with half time. That second half was horrendously predictable.

I always find it strange how a football fan sees the game.
I look through the ratings and rationale and shake my head in disbelief. Johnson marked down due to a brain fart yet Jatta has one of those nights. How come Jatta doesn?t get slaughtered for his brain fart of a finish?
How the defenders all score 5/6?s is beyond me. Port Vale may have dominated territory in the 2nd half but rarely threatened. One mis hit cross and naive defending cost us. Johnson was being lauded by the commentators before his error. Tsaroulla could and should have been on the cover.

Anyway, just my opinion that I think a lot of the scores and rationale are harsh. Each to there own.

To be fair no-one has marked Jatta higher than 5. In fact that is what everyone has given him.

Thought our defence was solid apart from one lapse which cost us.

Johnson and Bass lose a point for their part in the goal.
Maynard loses a point for his non-existent tactics in the second half.

I don't think you can blame Bass, that was Johnsons ball to challenge for and make it difficult for their striker. It was brain-fart. These things happen.

He needs to be back on the bench and our more recent back 3 in situ

Maynard dropped a bollo*k by taking Gordon off. Edwards should have gone off instead, he had a shocker, and together with Grant they didnt deserve anymore than a 4 each... As for Maynard, the times he makes a substitution and we concede immediately after..
