I prefer to focus politically on matters at home at the moment. I look at Radcliffe where I live and I don’t have much optimism. No banks left. Not even a banking hub. If you actually need to see someone at a bank that means a trip to Bury or Manchester. HMO’s wherever you look and under Andy Burnham’s Places 4 Everyone a big chunk of our greenbelt is scheduled to go. Two supermarkets yes Asda & Lidl but not too much else to boost footfall in the town centre. Does it look better where you live? If yes, probably count yourself lucky. Volunteer groups work hard to keep our town litter free and our green spaces tidy. Our latest Water Rates show a 28% increase over last year and I haven’t had the Council Tax bill yet.Winter Fuel Benefit gone. Still waiting for the new & only secondary school in the borough to have a permanent building and the purpose built health centre is so expensive to lease that one of the major medical practices is pulling out. The question for me is not why are people looking to vote Reform but rather why are they still voting Labour or Conservative. Things won’t change until you vote for them to change and I don’t think our two main parties are interested in changing our political system.
