Thread: Match day thread - Clarets v Nobenders.

The entire team were dross today. We are simply not good enough and the team selection was all wrong in my opinion. They looked tired and slow against a strong Preston team with lots of energy.
No doubt Leeds and Sheffield will take advantage and judging by performances like this which we have seen all too many of this season we do not deserve an automatic spot.
    The ref was diabolical also.

We had enough chances to have won 5 football matches.

Foster missed a couple. Anthony should have done better with one, and Flemming was not at the races today.

Our lack of goals is unfortunately going to cost us a top 2 finish. This league is relentless and to go up you have to be winning games like today

Had a ticket but didn't travel. I find that it's more nerve racking watching on TV than actually being there

I have to admit Foster missed two sitters, but he's not the only one who has this season. The front line in general was poor and so was the referee who missed two penalties, impossible to understand how. Who is in charge of what happens at free kicks?

Do you all expect the Nobenders to roll over and die? We had THREE very convertible chances (which you simply have to take at this level) the referee was absolutely diabolical. Stonewall penalty denied.

The only way Parker is at fault is for sticking with Foster. He needs benching. End of.

Nobody expected them to roll over BT but we helped them not roll over.We should have won by at least 2 goals on a bad day 4 on a good day. They are 15th in the league and were there for the taking. We simply lack the firepower to put teams away. Why Edwards and Shelvey did not start in place of Foster and Laurent is a complete mystery to me as they are a class above.
Everything was wrong today-the team selection, the tactics(we never got the ball on the ground and passed it quickly),the energy and application were all missing.
It is not the first time this season and it will no doubt not be our last under Cardy but it will be our downfall.

I agree CiB. I commented on Laurent on another thread. He was barely mentioned by the commentators in both this match and against Hull.

The other point I do not understand is that everyone talks about the relentless nature of the Championship, too many games and so on. Yet Cardy picks the same team to play 2 and a half days later when he has perfectly good, less tired players on the bench - especially in the engine room of midfield and upfront.

Millwall have managed a goal tonight against PNE, HT 0-1, 4 shots, 1 on target.
