O/T NHS Blood Stocks Are Critically Low

NHS Blood Stocks are Critically Low.

Ever thought about giving blood, at the moment blood stocks are at a big time low.

It takes around 1 hour of your time, from checking in, to leaving.

I gave blood yesterday Monday 17th February, at Montgomery Hall, Wath-on-Dearne.
2.05pm arrival time, check-in, waited 30 mins to have my blood iron test, then gave
blood, nurse timed it, from putting needle in my arm, 6 minutes & 5 seconds, & my
    donation was complete.

They like you to have a drink & a biscuit after, but I declined, don't have hot drinks
now for some time, just cordials.
I told nurse I was going for something stronger in Wetherspoons.

My last donation in October 2024 ended up being sent to Preston Hospital,

Donated 77 times now over the years, had to miss some with operations & holidays.

Well done ELK. I went a few years ago but because of the jabs i'd had for travelling in the far east it wouldn't be possible.

Early 90's i offered but because i'd had Electrolysis(needles) after a Sodium Hydroxide( Caustic soda) slpash in my face/eye it too was a no no.
The Electolysis (Twice) didn't work either.............

I've worked with caustic soda Avondale, used it at the coal prep plant at Manvers where I worked,
pump we used sprung a leak, 3 of us got splashed, one mate got it in his eyes, ended up at Hospital.
We had 205 litre barrel size caustic soda flakes, once a lorry driver delivering barrels dropped one of
them, which burst, we cleared it up with shovels, but it burnt our pit boots away, we had to go to the
    stores for new boots.

ELK, mine was on the 14th at St Anne?s complex. Up to 52 now and it should have been a lot more over the years but different employment and lifestyles stopped me from donating more.

As people we expect to there always being blood available should we need it. Donations are urgently needed now si if you can, carry on donating.
