Aside from at least trying to maintain the principle that countries shouldnt be rewarded for invasions, theres no reason why a well supported Ukraine couldnt see off Russia in the medium to long term.

A lot of informed opinion is that Russia is running out of both manpower and cash. See the collapse of their support for Assad in Syria as evidence for this.

Putin will keep throwing North Koreans conscripts or whatever at it. Just as they have done in previous wars. Blatant disregard for human life.

I think JD Vance was to blame.

He started talking about diplomacy is the answer, as if it's a new idea he'd thought of.

Zelensky quite rightly pointed out that in 2019 he signed an agreement with Putin, backed by Merkal and Macron. Putin broke this agreement.

JD Vance, realising he was starting to look the idiot he is, attacked Zelensky to cover up his ignorance.

Trying to make Zelensky beg and say "Oh thankyou, I haven't said thankyou, for at least 30 minutes."

JD Vance is feeding Trump a lot of the Ukraine are the bad guys nonsense.

And Rubio is just as bad. He described Putin as a war criminal and then sold out his principles when offered a job by Trump.

Russian kompromat is probably more of a motivation for him tbh!

They are struggling with manpower (sending people in to battle on crutches for example) but for them that's culturally acceptable somehow, and more of a medium term problem logistically for the reasons Queensland mentioned.

They are definitely running out of hardware though. You can quite easily find videos of Russians being sent into battle on golf carts, tractors and whatever else. They have been burning through Soviet era stockpiles of tanks which can be monitored from satellite images and are almost depleted.

A ceasefire would be absolutely great for Putin now so he can restock for round 3. Maintaining supplies to Ukraine or even increasing them would be a nightmare for him.

Trump knows this. He could support Ukraine for a while longer and have Russia on its knees and have them completely out of the picture as any sort of superpower. A massive win for the US and the security of the West.

On the other hand there are those p!ss tapes.

Yes, I think Trump would have been the easiest of targets. But what? He doesn't seem to worried about sordid allegations?

I thought it was self explanatory, but I'll try and make it clearer. I said "A united Europe might be the only thing big enough to stand up to his bullying, but 52% of us decided we didn't want to be part of a united Europe". I didn't say it was a solution to Trump, I said it might offer the best chance of someone standing up to his bullying. The EU would be a bit stronger with us in it, and we don't have the power to do a lot on our own.

Don't think Trump or his supporters would give a toss about any so called 'kompromat', he's been to trial, he's been shot at, his wife doesn't care what he's done in the past - what's a bit of kompromat to the allegedly most powerful man in the world? Or is that Elon?
