Lick of paint and be grand.
My house has a fall out shelter in the basement.

That said, I'm not sure the wooden ceiling would put up much in the way of radiation resistance but it's the thought that counts.

    For nothing, obviously.

Can't help but recall the old Twilight Zone episode where a family had a bomb shelter built in their basement. The premise of the show was that a nuclear attack had started and they went into the shelter. They had a limited amount of food and water so it was just the family. Other family members, neighbors and friends started coming over to the house and they told them to go away. IN the end they decided to open it up and let everyone in. I think the nuke attack ended up being a false alarm.

It would be a lonely, harsh world should someone launch a nuclear attack. I've never subscribed to the thought that anything would survive over time. Even the most remote places would be affected by the radiation but even more importantly the disrupted weather patterns and blocking of the sun due to debris kicked up. 10's of thousands of nukes and once they start launching them so one's going to show any restraint. No such think as a "tactical nuclear war". Once someones capital or major city is blown up it's "game on" and everything is getting launched.

    I suspect you’re right, more’s the pity.

This planet is too good for us. We must be the most selfish animal to have ever lived.

WTF man how can you put is in same sentence as animals? There is no word that describes us but animals we don't get close to them.

    Orgs,

I have to disagree with you. we have a lot of flaws as a species but compared to cats we are saints!!!

You should also recall that we also domesticated wolves to create dogs. That's a big one in the win category for us!
