    Forest. Not even a debate.

Probably because we haven't had one since that brilliant cup game at the City Ground.

Mansfield isn't really a derby. That's just a temporary substitute until we get to play meaningful matches against our city rivals again.

First time we played Stags in a league fixture (after I'd started going to games aged 12) I was 17 and Jimmy Sirrel was still in charge. When we had that 2-2 with them under Dearden when Caskey scored a late free kick and it all kicked off after their injury time equaliser, I was almost 33. Our league record against them in that time from Sirrel to Dearden was Won 6 Drew 5 lost 0. I have no scars inflicted on me by Mansfield Town.

Our record against them since that game in 2002 is W2 D6 L11, so I can understand why younger fans hate them, but to me everything that's happened since Scardino put us into admin - apart from the Munto season and the Short-Ince-Martin Allen period - is lost in a dark fog and it all feels totally inconsequential to me.

Let's start a rivalry with Derby County next season instead.

I've never known the gap between Notts and Fword to be this wide and that will probably be the biggest factor in my being the least bothered I've ever been about Notts and football generally, next to the 2020s effect of VAR, behind closed doors and the politicisation of the game. It's only for old times' sake that I still take an interest in how we get on, the unfolding history, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I've now got access to watching Notts at home and away but I usually get distracted into doing something else. I very much doubt that would be the case if we were in the same division as Fword or if we were in tier 2, but I'm bored stiff with L2 and it's thoroughly depressing seeing them being relevant again whilst we slop out in the lower leagues interminably.
Sorry, can?t agree at all. I am always bothered about us, I really do not care what Forest or Mansfield are doing. Looking back I quite enjoyed our years in the NL (obviously most in the last one).

You might be thoroughly depressed but that doesn?t mean we all should be. Can?t wait for the game tonight, even if Forest are the highest placed team left in the FA Cup.

My first Notts v Mansfield game was 1997/1998 although I did see a couple of County Cup games.
My first Notts v Forest games were the 93/94 season I attended all three including the Anglo Italian game.

I've followed Notts since 1959 and well remember how grim it was in to support Notts in 1967.
That's about the time Les Bradd joined and Sir Jimmy arrived soon afterwards.

I bet there wasn't a three division gap for six seasons like there has been now. I bet the Nottingham Post still covered Notts games then.

I?ve just read the Nottingham Post and apparently we might be losing Crowley as he has had a medical at MK Dons. I hope if he goes it doesn?t derail our season.

I have never disliked Stags (except when they play us) probably stems back to the 70s when an old friend of mine Colin Foster played for them. Forest I hated right up to my late 30s but has I've got older I've mellowed and have to admit they are playing well and they don't really bother me any more. Most of my mates are reds fans but they like to see us do well.
That might be different however if we ever got in the same league.
