Well it's a waste of energy thinking about him because as we all know he didn't want to be here.

Yes he wanted to leave, but he was still under contract with us. It was clearly a situation of nuance and we on here will never know the whole story, but we could have not sold him.

In the end I?d season post mortem, the choice to sell DC will be part of the scrutiny process.

If the fee was ?400k the sale was a no brainer for a soon to be out of contract, unhappy player. Theres no doubt we are missing him though, especially in home games like last night?s. We should have departed the model though and bought proven league 2 experience and know how with the money.

I do feel the model is starting to be misunderstood (probably because we are out of form).

Bass, Bedeau and Platt are three obvious examples. Jatta the previous season is another obvious example. Curtis Edwards and Rod McDonald are also examples. McDonald was good during his run in the team and Edwards has been in and out.

The model is not but young and sell on. The model is get more value out of what we bring in.

I totally agree we should have strengthened with more experience in the 10. But the model would still allow for that, probably the context (the January Transfer Window) is the bigger issue.

But as everyone knows it?s much harder to find value in January. It?s not my club but occasionally, I would have thought, some short term thinking is required, particularly when youve received an unexpectedly large transfer fee.

Weve been in the promotion places I think every January since the owners have been at Notts, how many game changers have been signed in those transfer windows? None, as far as I can remember. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Jodi Jones is the only one, though Jatta did score goals last season after signing.

We got badly burned on the Morias transfer and I really hope we didn’t spend much on Jarvis, who is giving off Will Randall vibes right now.

Spot on about Jarvis and the other Will, I was thinking the same last night
It looks like his team mates don't fancy him much either

They knew he was going from the start of the season. Plenty of time to find a ready made replacement, which we haven't done. Considering that signing players then hopefully selling on is the clubs policy in theory, why wasn't a replacement for DC sourced?

They knew there was interest. They had no idea MK would meet the asking price. There is a difference. If we got 400K in Jan for DC, that is wild.

I totally agree that we should have replaced DC more effectively and I actually think Whitaker has got a lot about him in that role; he was just very poor last night.

Flashes of amazing and lots of awful. He might have a lot about him but blooding him in the second half of a potential promotion season is an interesting decision.
