When the current owners tenure ends, will their peak position be closer to the peaks that have been achieved this century at non-glamour clubs such as Reading, Wigan, Bournemouth, Charlton, Luton, Hull, Huddersfield, Brentford, Swansea, Burnley, Barnsley, Fulham, QPR, Bolton, Watford, Millwall, Blackburn, Cardiff, Rotherham, Peterborough, even Burton, Yeovil, Stockport, Wycombe, Oxford...... the sort of positions Pavis and Dunnett reached or bettered (from a starting point of 91st in Dunnet's case), or will their peak be in the same ball park as the heights reached by Trew, Hardy, the Trust and Scardino?

As we are, and based on the last 6 years, I'd say the latter looks the more likely.

Fortune plays a significant part, but there's no reason why the current approach couldn't ultimately be as successful as Brentford's or Brighton's, because the model is similar.

I think with the current owners, when their tenure ends, we'll be far less likely to be in financial meltdown, which was the case with a lot (if not all!) of the previous owners you mention, even including Pavis (albeit thanks to Scardino mainly) and Dunnett (remember Barry Noble's Astoria!). Maybe that's optimistic, but I think the brothers are being very careful not to bite off more than they can chew financially.

Unless you're one of the global brand clubs, it always ends in tears, but if you can create the sort of history and memories that compare with the peaks most decent sized clubs enjoy every 20 years or so, a year or two dicing with death is worth it.

Are the current owners even going to manage an outside challenge for tier 3 play offs, as Trew and Scardino did, or are we just waiting for the next owner to come along, thanking the bros for just keeping us going.

"Sustainability" is a valueless word. Somebody pumping x millions into a club on an annual basis to compete in tier 2 for two decades would be as "sustainable" as somebody else not spending above their means whilst yo-yoing between tiers 4 and 5 for the same duration.

They've said themselves that they feel they can sustain us in the Championship but not necessarily going up to the PL. One would think that meant the Championship is their current aim. I honestly don't know where you get such a negative vibe as your posts are giving off recently about the Bros.. They've made few, if any, false steps thus far in the balancing act of making us competitive whilst fixing the business from the bottom up.

I can totally understand that we're all at various levels of foaming at the mouth about the recent performances on the pitch, however. I'm not a massive Maynard fan but I'm not anti-Maynard either. I just think he's struggled hugely with the injury crises this season.

Absolutely true. And frankly, even if we are "just waiting for the next owner to come along" and "thanking the bros for just keeping us going", to quote UTM, then why should that be viewed negatively anyway?

The brothers aren't egotists. They seem to be concentrated on nothing other than restoring stability to a club that has gone through hell, and leaving it in a better state than they found it. I'm pretty sure that if a 'fit and proper' prospective owner came along with oodles of money to spend, a genuine bank guarantee, and no previous club bankruptcies or criminal convictions, the brothers would happily sell the club to that person if they believed the new regime could take us further and quicker.

Until then, forgive me for thinking the current owners have the club's best interests at heart and have done a pretty impressive job just to get us back on our feet, back in the league and in a position to even have such conversations about how fast we should progress. We could do a darn sight worse, and indeed we have in the past, several times!

Perhaps, but this time without the dreaded '5 year plan' and now with several years of progress to back up their statement.
