On the day that the last Battle of Britain RAF pilot dies, two elected dictators discuss carving eastern Europe for their own gain. As near to the 1930's sell out by the weak Allies and bully Hitler (with his then hidden ally, Stalin) as you could get. As before, appeasement, with the only benefit being time to re-arm. Shame on self serving politicians, duplicitous Germany and Italy - will no one learn from history?

When you talk about this agreement, who is actually agreeing?

It is the real adversaries responsible for this war that are talking to one another. We all know that Ukraine is just a proxy that does what it is told by its benefactor. Besides, Zelensky has long admitted that they cannot hold out for a long time without US support.

Whether they will reach an agreement soon, I do not know. I suspect Trump is in way over his head, but I am hopeful that detente between the US and Russia will lead to positive outcomes in cooling tensions and, hopefully, working together in the future to resolve some serious issues facing humanity.
