I think this is Eddie's blind spot-his attachment to certain players.

I get it he's a great lad, he's a captain who has been with us through thick and a hell of a lot of thin but sentimentality needs to be set aside to progress to the top top levels.

We'll see. I don't mind if he does hang around, great bloke but I would applaud him out the door should he look for a few project at his time of life.
    Eddie doesn?t think so!
One of the several stand out facets of Eddie?s management style is the importance he attaches to the role played by non-match day playing staff, both in training and for the psychology of the squad.
We do have Schar, Trippier and Burn, as well as Lascelles but it didn?t stop him from getting Ruddy on board. We were all scratching our heads at the time but it seems to be turning out OK so far!
As supporters we concentrate (too much?) on who trots out onto the pitch on match day but, EH is looking at the squad far more deeply than that.

I just don't see that one happening. It's not even in conversation. We need fresh faces and Wilson just can't do it anymore,

    No argument from me mate.

I prefer to have an active squad of players who are all able to affect things on the pitch as well as off it!

I think hes too professional for that. The confusion comes because he sees more in a player than just match day performance. He takes into account training pitch performance, team spirit and character.
He obviously sees great value in the players behind the scenes who help the match day players to get better. I think Eddie?s definition of ?a team? is a lot deeper than ours.
