I?m still more in favour of the 343 formation.
I don?t like 3412 - because I want to see 3 strikers up front waiting to receive the ball - and I want to see an high press of 3 which puts more pressure on a team that plays tippy tappy from the back.

I don?t like a flat back 4 because it?s more defensive.
I prefer every player on the field other than the goalkeeper to have the freedom to run forward with the ball.
Which is more difficult to do with a flat back 4 because obvious gaps appear at the back.

I also don?t like 3 across the middle of midfield - as that often just leaves one anchor defensive midfielder.
I prefer two midfielders in the middle sealing off the midfield.

In other words I prefer the Ismael approach.
Or should that be the Barnsley Way approach ?

Clearly there has been discussions behind the scenes to start the game 433.
It definitely worked against Bolton.
I think the basis behind that was cutting the cloth to suit - using the players available in a way to get the best for the team.

But I?d be surprised if 433 was adopted for the coming season.
