Have they maybe seen a bit of sense ehh, which might suggest they are going to give Conor the job after all.
And if they are to let him have some free managerial reign, to do what he wants etc. Then I'm ok with that, and I appreciate it to be honest. 😊 👍

Then who is to blame - Neerav.
No I wasn?t at the game - but I?ve only missed two games this season.
We haven?t the quality of player to play a back 4 that can leave their position and attack.
Consequently all defenders in a back four defend.
The result of that is that is the team becomes predictable and less flexible.
Neither Freiser, Dike or Morris were wingers - but they played as an attacking 3.
Same as Humphreys, Dunn and Fabio did.
I would not describe any of those as wingers like Hammill and Disco.

Yes yer right - it was a pleasure to watch.
Although the formation was different in a 433 the team played more like a team than in any other game this season.
Notably:
There were 3 players involved in the high press that got amongst their defenders and cut down passes.
The midfielders supporting that high press.
And importantly our defence played as a single unit that caught Bolton offside a couple of times.

It was clearly Sormaz who was to blame for the january disaster , it was you who suggested he wasn"t , and playing a strong back 4 does not require any of them to attack , they are there to defend, our midfield and forwards do the attacking , in 1978 playing in the third division which is the same level as we are at now we had a back 4 of Chambers , McCarthy , Evans/Cooper and Joyce who were rock solid and light years in front of what we have now but the only time these lads went on the attack was to go up for set pieces and corners , you can go with a four in the midfield and two up top or go with a three and three , it is time to abandon this failed wing back system as we simply ship goals for fun, poor defending as cost us big time this season , lets hope the penny really has dropped.

I agree with everything you have said Acido , it is time to change tack, give Conner a go and give him a free hand on the football side of things .

I said Sormaz was probably to blame for not getting players over the line.
That still might be the case.
However - Neerav in a recent interview said that Sormaz is doing a good job working within the parameters (available money) set down by the club.

So obviously it?s a lack of funding from Neerav that?s a major factor here.
The inability to get a couple of loan strikers in has got the alarm bells ringing amongst fans.
Hence the 100s of empty seats at the Well.

But as I suggested - has that funding been withheld because they don?t want to spend on an HC that they knew they were going to sack after January ???

As for the 1978 team - yes I remember that team.
But football has moved on massively.
Play like that now and we would be slaughtered ever game.

You cannot remember that team otherwise you would not come out with the comment that they would get slaughtered every game , you might not be able to compare different eras but you can certainly discuss the qualities of players ,that defence was far and away light years in front of what we have today, and believe it or not playing a back four is not out dated and as we proved on saturday it can be used to great effect , just look at the teams us and Rotherham had when we went up together and they were both great sides with great players and guess what they both played with a flat back four , Rotherham had Stancliffe and we had McCarthy at the heart of their respective defences , warriors through and through , do not try and tell me that in todays football players like that would be in a side getting slaughtered every week , you are having a laugh !!

Hey Shad, I really liked Conor's reaction to the goals against Bolton, and it's just what we want to see isn't it.
I'm not sure whether we should appoint him just yet, but I do agree that he ticks all the right boxes. 👍

I just think it is folly to continue with this rinse and repeat policy of sacking the Hc and then having to pay out for a replacement often with expensive compensation costs , we have had more success over the years with promoting from within and by giving Conner a chance what have we got to lose ? if he fails at least we will have tried something different without the financial burden but the lad already knows the players, the academy , the players who need to be moved on and he will have a good idea on where we need to strengthen , any new Hc from outside will have to start from scratch plus of course he is currently having a 10 match trial where he is cutting his teeth and gaining invaluable experience , it all makes sense to me .

Of course football moved on with the improved pitches, training facilities, number of coaching staff and even the match ball.
With all that in mind just how well would these lads do brought up in the modern game.
