I know this is with hindsight, but I thought exactly the same at the time - we definitely batted too long. Not only too long, but too slow. With the weather forecast in mind we should have slogged our way to 300 to get the second batting point and then declared. Instead we batted as if we were going to get 100 overs on the fourth day. We sit marginally top, but this was an opportunity missed.

We didn?t get 36 overs today as we came again for bad light and rain.

In fairness if you lose two days to the rain it?s pretty damn hard to win a game from that amount of time.

Excellent first day in the top of the table game against Suss ex, just 5 runs behind with 7 wickets intact. The weather forecast suggests full play, so we need to build a big first innings lead with maximum batting points tomorrow.

Excellent opening day. In a very strong position. What could possibly go wrong?

That very strong position is rapidly becoming a small advantage. We've managed 47/5 this morning, and even one batting bonus point is looking unlikely.

A bit of defiance from the tail means we sneak two batting points and a first innings lead of 131.
