Gates have nowt to do with how high you finish its about your budget, players and coaching first.

Perhaps some might calm down abit now last week we werent going to win again this season we answered that today against a side I believe unbeaten in last 10 at home ?

We have a chance at least and as we know anything can happen in the play offs if Salford get in are they favs ?

Big time owners gravitate towards clubs with big gates and vice versa, so gates absolutely do dictate your budget, the quality of your players, managers and coaches you can bring in.
Money aside, top players don't want to play in front of small crowds. Ditto top managers.
It's always going to be easier with big crowds, harder with small ones. Clubs who defy that basic logic are either over or under achieving and usually they soon revert to type. That's how football works and always has done.

If I was wrong about this, as I've pointed out before, then Leicester City winning the PL would have been no bigger deal than Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea winning it and clubs far far bigger than Bury would have gone under.

This poll has had just 50 votes. Less than a bus full.
0.5% of our average gate. 34 people say out. 16 say in.
Not worth getting wound up about.

Maybe that's due to the message 'You may not vote on this poll'. I did but not before I had jumped through some unspecified hoops. This website is not user-friendly in any way, but it's what we've got.

Generally, who cares? Me wanting Maynard gone means Jack ****, as I can't influence the owners in any way.

Btw, back in the day, we used to take our entire away support in 2 coaches to away matches (the Claude Bishop one and the Neal Hook one). That was for every away match, no matter how big or small. Did that count for nothing, being just two buses?

We get bigger gates yes but our budget isnt top 3 although our gates are top 3.

Some think we should chuck money about but our owners are smarter than that and we still have to try reduce costs/debts which again some forget about.

    In.

We have no idea what his ceiling as a head coach is, yet in his first full campaign he has coached a Notts to a minimum of a playoff place despite having major issues to contend with. Losing Macca, DC, major injuries to key players, coaches leaving and not replaced etc. etc.

I think he has shown improvement and signs of adaptation in his role throughout the campaign - we're not as stubborn to play out from the back as we were pre Christmas and will go direct when necessary, and last few games he has been more proactive/aggressive with substitutions when compared to the beginning of the season, which I felt at the time was really holding him back.

Yes he's learning on the job, but he's showing his ability to grow/improve in the role and given our league position he's hardly out of his depth. It's not where you start it's where you finish and who knows how good SM may become, may I remind people Jose Mourinho started his career as a translator.

SM also strikes me as a thoroughly good bloke, which for me at least counts for something.

My view is that football clubs should only fire managers for being far below the needed mark and only if they are sure they have lined up better. I can't see either of those being true.

SM has frustrated me this season but he and the club have progressed and I have faith both can continue to do so. I also think bringing in a new manager under these circumstances will be far more likely to harm than help.

I?m back on the fence, been either side of it a couple of times this season.
That said if the owners think there?s a real gem out there that will fit Notts and the structure then happy for them to go for it.
We can talk about his tactics but there?s an argument he?s hardly on the whole put a foot wrong away, its the disappointing home performances that are hard to take.

My thoughts were and still are, we needed to hang on in the play off spots giving time for JJ to get match fit. I believe that JJ is about coming into form so we are better equipped now than we have been all season...a fully fit JJ is the difference weve needed all season to lift us above mediocrity. If we excel then Maynard keeps his job , no questions asked.Surely even the haters can't hate if he gets us promotion!!!...but they will....!x
