I dont think Maynard has it in him to wind up or hate anyone, though I like the idea of Salford fans having a scrap. Maybe they could get Roy Keane to give em a hand.
    I concur.

I also find it embarrassing that as a collective home support we can be quite passive untill it comes to criticising the referee.
The most energetic fan chant against Cheltenham was 'We always get **** refs' . Doesn't do us as Notts fans any credit.

They were having a discussion on talkSport about Arsenal fans being quiet and not helping their team in the Champions League semi-final the other night. Can't imagine that happening at Highbury. Some theorised it was due to the amount of tourist fans now getting tickets but it probably is at least partially due to a different type of football supporter generally and, as alluded to earlier up the thread, robotic managers (and players) who don't build a relationship with the support like they used to. Clubs who are currently massively overachieving and having the time of their lives (like Fword) will buck the trend, but despite attendance's booming throughout the game it's probably not just Notts who are now struggling to generate much of a home atmosphere.

I spun my rattle till sparks came of it. I don't think they sang at all in them there days.but silly chants like 2 4 6 8 etc which a few will remember.
When did singing start? I think it was at Liverpool on their kop I do remember a choirmaster trying to start a choir in the main stand he had about ten fans practicing for a week song using Notts players names the last.line I remember was (and Les Bradd) ridiculous of course, Song chants have to be instantaneous not orchestrated. Apologise if you were the Choirmaster🤣

Ah, that's my point, a big (record) crowd trying their best and we still lost, and that is not the only instance in your history at least. And this season, barring a win v Doncaster, we've done better away than at home despite our home attendances, and not for the first time in your history at least.

I say your history because I didn't come along till a few years later. 2 4 6 8 who do we appreciate - at least we learnt to spell C O U N T Y. Whoever would have thought that a rattle was a weapon. I've said on here mine disappeared on the train back from Grimsby sometime in the '60s.

I've often wondered how chanting starts at a match. I'm sure if I started to try it say the Wheelbarrow song others would leave me to do a solo. There has to be a core group and a choirmaster.

Anyway absolutely mental that there are scenarios that we could go up automatically on Saturday. Bring Warnock in for a pre-match rocket up the backside.

    COYP (when did that start?).

Oh, Maynard, a bit on the fence. He's not had the easiest of seasons and I don't know how much of that is down to him or the disruptions and injuries. But we're in the play-offs and many would have taken that at the start.

I found my rattle a few years back, and apart from having Bradd and Masson scrawled on it, it also had Barry Butlin. What was that all about? I'm aware he was on loan here but I don't remember liking him. Perhaps I filtered him out of my memory due to his spell at Forest when they were crap.

13 goals in 30 apps over the 9 months he was here (end of one season and into the next), which pretty much would have made him the most prolific scorer at the time since Hateley in the early 60s, so he probably was a bit of hero at the time, though soon forgotten with Masson bagging 23 and Barker 19 the season Butlin returned to Derby.

Every team in the league has had injury problems, this is not purely a Maynard thing.. People are making excuses to cover up just how poor he has been.. 13 HOME games lost since his arrival...

You can twist it how you like but this is his team now with a pre season and full season and we are going to be in the play offs at least you can?t argue with that.

Of course people will pop along and say he should be top 3 but the table doesn?t lie does it I think 99% of fans would have taken this in August.

In the cut throat world of football he has done a good job as Warnock said the other night it?s hard for managers now due to media/social media as every Tom,Dick and Harry thinks they know it all with zero coaching or managing credentials.

If we don?t go up then the club will have to decide if he has hit their targets and if he hasn?t it carries a risk too as changing managers isn?t a recipe to do better the next season we saw that under previous owners.

I'm not twisting anything, its a a fact that we have lost 13 home games since his arrival. Its also true that every other team in the EFL have had injury issues. Also our home games this season have been tedious to watch.. Those stats are indefensible. If by some freak of nature he is still here next season, then he had better perform 150% better than he has to date.

That is true yes but last season is gone in life you need to look forward on the flip side his away record must be amongst the best.

End of the day it?s a results business and if he does take us up he has done his job imo but that doesn?t mean he is safe he should be but as you can see at Leeds with Farke perhaps being replaced it could happen.

I think football on the whole is boring now compared to what it was but maybe social media like Warnock says has an impact you are under intense pressure from day one and results are all that matters so style of play goes out the window that is what they have to deal with, whilst the likes of us don?t really like that we want to be entertained so I get what you are saying.

I don?t put all the blame on managers they take some but players need to be accountable as well too.

Anyway in a few days time we might be promoted who knows 😂
