There is a difference between playing to a particular style, and adapting that style to win games. Which clearly SM is unable to do..

There's nothing wrong with the style of play if it's done well. The football we played under Williams was the best I've seen in 30 years, with entertainment guaranteed virtually every week. I think a combination of overplaying at the back, and not having enough centre-halves good enough for League Two, were beginning to tell by the time he left, but we've upgraded well in that department with the likes of Platt and Bedeau.

As I've said in another post, I would be a hypocrite to call for Maynard's head while we're in a play-off place, because I slaughtered Birmingham for sacking John Eustace when they were in a similar position last season, so I'm willing to wait and see where the season ultimately takes us.

What I will say is that the football we've played under Maynard has been slow-paced, unimaginative tripe for a lot of the time and I could count on less than the fingers of one hand the number of games I've enjoyed watching. I also still wonder whether the most effective elements of the management team walked out of the door at the turn of the year leaving an Emperor with few if any clothes.

I don't dislike Maynard the guy, he's not a Jamie Fullarton or Jocky Scott type, but unless he can find a way of taking the handbrake off this team and getting the entertaining best out of some very good attacking players for this level, then I can't honestly say I'd look forward to next season with any enthusiasm.

Of course they wouldn't. He's lucky we spend as long as we do with the ball because the little effort it typically takes to break us down we'd get fisted every week if we didn't pass it between Platt, Bedeau and No3.

The team has underperformed for the vast majority of the season particularly at home which was the same last season once SM had taken charge.
The home form was a problem prior to SM taking over.

For whatever reason we just aren?t clinical enough in our play when at home.

I find some of the revisionism regarding LWs tenure astonishing, but Ive never seen anyone say we were struggling at home under him. We were generally great at home, it was away where the problems were!

It is laughable. How many times can people get away with posting such tripe? They take no responsibility and when reminded of their near doomsday predictions : 6,000 will become 3,000 in non league next season. If we don?t get promoted this season to League Two we won?t get 5,000 next season. The latest instalment is 10,000 will become 6,000 because of another season in this league, they disappear.

Then they reemerge some time later to wrongly make a similar prediction again and again. And they get away with it

A bit like those who keep saying we can get automatic promotion.

1 point out of the last 12 available is absolutely shocking at this stage of the season. I'm fed up hearing "It's all about winning games of football"

The Salford games was the last chance for me and he failed. The Cheltenham game was so mundane to me and I can see us failing to pick up any points from our last 2 games and fail to make the play offs. This was a fantastic chance to promotion as the form of the teams above us shows, anyone can beat anyone but he's failed!!

Fresh start needed next season and a few fresh faces in the squad.

I was going to post similar. Excellent post.

Continuity in the overall approach from the owners is a good thing in my opinion. Adapt within this approach.

So do we keep changing managers until we find one that can adapt the style to win games, or just admit we can't play how the owners demand and change the style altogether and try another style
