Clubs who average 30k don't drop into the 3rd or 4th tier. Clubs who average 3k don't go into the PL or the Championship. The extremely rare exceptions prove the rule. Unfortunately Notts (and Bradford) are among the tiny handful of clubs who are among those exceptions... and persistently so.

It?s arrogant to ?expect? it - if gates were everything the league table of the 92 would read very differently.

You can twist it any way you want to suit any narrative, the big gates are a testament to the progress of the club (despite many idiots preseason predictions of 6000 gates again).

The high gates are because of the team and the owners - and shouldnt be used as a stick to beat them with.

That?s hard to properly quantify as there are a number of clubs that have averaged high numbers that dropped in to L1. Birmingham, Sunderland, Man City, Forest, Derby and Leeds off the top of my head.

Average attendances, thankfully, don?t dictate how successful a club will be in a season. The 11 players on the pitch do.

Our historic gates wouldn?t have us above the 3rd tier, the irony is we?ve become a very well supported club from NL success.

I agree bar the obvious exceptions good and bad teams are never far away from the league their gates are aligned to.

That said within the league you operate it?s far from that, other owners can compensate 3 to 4K deficit in gates by ploughing in an extra million.

Gates have nowt to do with how high you finish its about your budget, players and coaching first.

Perhaps some might calm down abit now last week we werent going to win again this season we answered that today against a side I believe unbeaten in last 10 at home ?

We have a chance at least and as we know anything can happen in the play offs if Salford get in are they favs ?

This poll has had just 50 votes. Less than a bus full.
0.5% of our average gate. 34 people say out. 16 say in.
Not worth getting wound up about.

Big time owners gravitate towards clubs with big gates and vice versa, so gates absolutely do dictate your budget, the quality of your players, managers and coaches you can bring in.
Money aside, top players don't want to play in front of small crowds. Ditto top managers.
It's always going to be easier with big crowds, harder with small ones. Clubs who defy that basic logic are either over or under achieving and usually they soon revert to type. That's how football works and always has done.

If I was wrong about this, as I've pointed out before, then Leicester City winning the PL would have been no bigger deal than Man City, Liverpool or Chelsea winning it and clubs far far bigger than Bury would have gone under.

We get bigger gates yes but our budget isnt top 3 although our gates are top 3.

Some think we should chuck money about but our owners are smarter than that and we still have to try reduce costs/debts which again some forget about.

Maybe that's due to the message 'You may not vote on this poll'. I did but not before I had jumped through some unspecified hoops. This website is not user-friendly in any way, but it's what we've got.

Generally, who cares? Me wanting Maynard gone means Jack ****, as I can't influence the owners in any way.

Btw, back in the day, we used to take our entire away support in 2 coaches to away matches (the Claude Bishop one and the Neal Hook one). That was for every away match, no matter how big or small. Did that count for nothing, being just two buses?
