    In the vent that we stay up, I'm sure there will be further recruitment but we can discuss that once we are safe! For now I was merely commenting on Yates' improvement under Eustace.

    Is he not a popular player? I haven't heard much many complaining about him in particular, in terms of this current squad I fear fans expectations exceed reality, anyway whatever happens it will be an interesting summer.

    Fans expectations are, probably unfairly, fuelled by the relatively free scoring performances of McGoldrick (22/23) and Collins (23/24) but I certainly don’t see Yates anywhere near the running for player of the season.

    Personally, if we go down to L1 I’d try to keep him. If we stay up…not so sure, but I’d never fault his undeniable effort and availability record.

    As you say, it’ll be an interesting summer - in all sorts of ways - and player retention is something best talked about after we know the outcome of next weekend.
