I went along for my third look this season of the Clarets youngsters in action. I was hoping for an improvement on the last time when I saw them in action at Swansea several weeks ago.
Despite going a goal behind early in the game , the Clarets fought back quickly , with a quick- fire double, to turn the game in their favour, and go in at the interval in front. It could have been more, but finishing in the final third wasn?t up to scratch.
The second half was mostly one way traffic, and two more goals following sloppy defensive play by the home side , put the result beyond any doubt. In fact , it could have, and should have been more than four goals, and the final 4-1 scoreline, flattered the home team. For the Clarets, the defence looked solid, with full back Baligun always looking busy, and eager to get up the field.
Judging by the youngsters display , Cardiff look to be in a mess from the first team right down to grass roots level. Whoever takes the hot seat this summer, has a lot of work to do, implementing new structures and getting fresh ideas into place ready for next season.
One highlight of the afternoon was that I had my photo taken with Andy Farrell and Jack Cork. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them and they willingly stood alongside me ,to get the job done. They were also interested in my love for the club etc. A perfect way to end the afternoon in the South Wales sunshine. Roll on next season, in more ways than one !
