    Of course it's possible.

It's a fact that there have been many performances this season that have left a lot to be desired, but there have been some good games under Maynard and many of them have been away from home, so there's no point writing us off. It looks like some players who haven't had much action in recent times will get a run on Saturday, so it could be one of those days where an unusual-looking side catches the opponent off guard. We might find the right formula almost by accident.

By the same token, there's no point starting a thread on a message board like this and saying the alternative view can't be heard. Those who are not so optimistic can point to a fair body of evidence to justify their relative pessimism, and if the manager, player and club want those doubts to be expressed less frequently, they need to address the shortcomings we've seen this season over the summer.

I don't know if this counts as a 'glass-half-full' or 'glass-half-empty' view, but I won't be as devastated as I normally might if we don't end up being successful in the play-offs this season. My heart of course wants promotion, but my head tells me we're genuinely not ready yet and that we probably need to keep building until we're the proper finished article, bashing our heads against the top of this league, much like we eventually were in the National League.

Anyhow, I've bought my season ticket for 2025/26, so what will be will be...

Very wise and balanced viewpoint, weve tended to progress in the leagues until we are eventualy good enough to get up (like in the NL), despite at the end of every failed play off campaign some miserable fellas predicting 'relegation zone next season'.

Whether we go up this season or go in to next season as one of the favourites with a more balanced squad - enjoy the ride people!
