    Lineker got what he deserved.

Gary Lineker is set to leave the BBC, with an announcement expected on Monday.
Speculation is mounting the 64-year-old will step down after he presents his final Match of the Day next weekend.
It is understood that Lineker, listed as the highest-paid BBC presenter, will also no longer present the corporation's coverage of the World Cup in 2026.
But last week he had to apologise after sharing a social media post about Zionism that included an illustration of a rat, historically used as an antisemitic insult.
Lineker said he very much regretted the references. He just can?t help it, smug two hat.

    I think he?s misunderstood.
Yes he supports a terrorist organisation who murdered babies and Raped women.
Yes he?d rather protect a bloke in a dress than protect women from being at risk in changing rooms.
Yes he wouldn?t comment on the grooming scandal when asked and referred to it as stirring the pot.
Yes he?s a Champaign socialist , hypocritical and lacks moral integrity.
    Apart from that he?s ok.

He is what he is. Grammar school educated, then the sheltered life of football which developed into a millionaire lifestyle. His exposure to foreigners being those caught up in his lifestyle. He has no first hand experience of the problems mass immigration causes and as such has developed a guardian reader view of the world.

His Dad was a costermonger, he used to work with him at the market.

I think it's working at the BBC for so long that's done this, it's a bubble.

Look at what it did to Ian Hislop.

In democracies it’s not a bad thing thing to hear the views of his, pricks your conscience somewhat.
    No harm done.
The harms usually done when people with such narrow and naive views get into positions of power.

How come one of England's greatest ever goal scorers , Captains and someone who had a reputation of being a bit dull gets far more stick for his views that you can easily chose to ignore than 1 cap wonder Joey Barton who

Has called for the end of the monarchy
    beaten up a taxi driver
    Beat up a team mate
Put a cigar out in a youth player's eye
Beat up his wife including kicking her in the head
Beat up a man and a ****ager in the middle of the night in Liverpool
    Hit the Barnsley Manager

    Step forward....

Here's a clue if you need one - he has first-hand experience of foreigners taking the jobs that Brits don't want, being married to a German.

From what I?ve seen on X Barton gets plenty of stick and rightly so.
Is it not possible that this conversation is about Linekar so he?s getting attention?
What?s his history as a footballer got to do with it? Does this exempt him from criticism?
If you like him fair enough but others don?t agree.

Start a thread on Barton and people will give their views. It?s how it works.
