The problem is where do you look if likes of Evatt are being linked to Huddersfield/Cardiff ?
You either go for a merry go round manager, a rookie like Wilshere or random foreign coach.
I know absolutely nothing about this guy in fact I’d never heard of him until a few days ago
We might have asked people like Evatt and Buckingham via agents but there is some fairly big L1 clubs who’d blow us out the water financially.
There are gems out there it is just finding them and having some luck on the way too.
We are a big club by L2 standards but like everything now it depends how many benjamins you could afford to put on the table and also another factor is the higher profile the mnager/coach will they want more control over recruitment and perhaps playing style ?
Food for thought in your post. Aiden Hinshelwood is a bit of a halfway house between IB and LW for me judging by their experience in the National League. Aiden Hinshelwood has achieved more in the National League than SM did albeit Wealdstone were part time and more than Burchnall although Burchnall got us to playoff semi finals but we did not have such a good season as York have just had under IB. He's not quite achieved as much as Luke Williams did at that level with us as York did not get to the National League final or did not get promoted despite having a fantastic season.
I could understand the logic in this one.

Good point. Not all managers are wanting to coach in the Champions League or EPL or Championship. Some may have tried it and it hasn't worked, so they have to regroup and start again. A sideways or slightly backward step.
I'm in agreement with what George Vizard says on the Pavis Perspective, that we look upwards rather than downwards. What Notts County can offer is some form of certainty in the role. Yes, that you won't get sacked after 6 games, but if you don't perform after 12-15 months, then you better start looking.
Notts have had a few managers who have done this in the past and they have been ok (Sirrell, Cotterill etc.). The problem is that Notts are going to turn off many managers who expect and want to run the playing aspects by themselves - not being dealt a load of players and then being told to make the best of them.
I personally wouldn't want a role with those requirements in place. If things are going wrong, you can't bring in players you need to shore up the gaps. I think all of the Notts managers under the Reedtz brothers have experienced this problem.
Huddersfield have gone for a relative unknown, Lee Grant. But yeah I can imagine the likes of Evatt waiting for the first round of sackings in Octoberish.
Hinshelwood has done very well with his previous clubs, but at non league level. 1/2 is quite a big move from where he was.
That move on Hinshelwood is the first where I?ve thought there could be something in it. Would be fine with it tbh, York to Notts is a far more natural move up than Wealdstone to Notts and a 96-point season from anyone is worth looking at.
