Christ, didn't realise what I'd started here! My first post since the OP...

Just wanna say...

It's a massive NO for the York manager for me.

I watched them get complete obliterated by Oldham, who look like more of a L2 team.

York played like us in the national league days pre-Luke. It would be a massive step back.

Oldham pressed and bullied them...York had no answers. They went out the playoffs with a complete whimper. There's no way that guy is doing well in L2.

No to Hazelwood/Hishelwood or whatever he's called.

I do like the NL playoff format, but York were at a distinct disadvantage this season going into that game having not played for 15 days, while Oldham had played the week before, got a decent win, and were match sharp. We all want someone with multiple EFL promotions but even so I think Hinshelwood would be a very good appointment.

That's what I thought, Notts nearly came a cropper at the semi-final stage too. The system is supposed to favour the highest placed teams, but really it doesn't, that gap without a game is a disadvantage. So Hinshelwood is pretty much in the same position as Williams at the same stage. I would rather a manager who does it over 46 games than a play-off specialist. We have 3 spaces to aim for, not one, like the NL.

Having said that, I'm not yet convinced the bros won't appoint Alves, or just as bad, insist he carries on as assistant coach. The alternative would be to demote him.
