    I agree with Harsh Realities. A manager with no management experience, no experience of the Championship doesn't sound very promising to me.

    All managers are previously assistants and have to start somewhere. Most of the talented and connected assistants start around our level, mid table championship, like Lampard.

    Kompany, McKenna, Arteta, Maresca etc. prove it can work. Scott Parker got promoted first season after being an assistant season before.

    I would say there are as many examples of an assistant being successful as there are lower league managers making the step up.
