Alves has only been a league coach for a year.

Prior to that he has 8 years coaching experience up to head football coach at a university, and 8 years as an analyst and another year as an "assistant" in notts county.

While that's a great background to start your career as a head coach or manager, it still makes him a basic newbie at it at our level and I don't regard him as a credible candidate.

If he went to head up a NL team and outperformed his budget by a wide margin for a couple of years? Then I'd consider it. But he just doesn't have the competitive experience we would need.

It would be a huge risk to sign him into the role and with the owners still pitching in... what is it, still at least two million pounds a year at this level, even with all the players we recently sold? I don't see them taking that risk.
