I think a lot of people look at the Stockports, Mansfields and Wrexham and see them chucking the kitchen sinks at it and so are a few lesser supported clubs and their owners are all incurring big losses as a result. I think Stockport lost 6m in L2 and I?m sure Salford lost 3.5m and obviously we got down to ?1.5m in the last round of accounts from averaging 2m.
The bros clearly have set themselves a limit and I can?t see it changing so it?s probably just a case of liking it or lumping it.
If I had a crystal ball I?d say we?ll have a budget in the top 8 next season and again be around the play offs, maybe pushing top 3 but we won?t chuck the kitchen sink at it to try and be run away champions and you have to ask yourself if you?re happy with that?
I'm not for one minute saying the Bro's haven't done some wonderful things, they have, but I reiterate the football club don't own the Nest or the Padel courts, the Bro's do via another Company. They can chose to do what the hell they want with that money.
The lack of ambition I talk about is messing up a golden opportunity to get out of this League when it presented itself. Letting Didzy go (assuming it wasn't a fait a complait) has made it much harder to be competitive this season. Didzys don't come on buses, they are rare as are loanees the calibre of George Abbot. A bit of investment in proven players in January would likely have got us over the line, now we find ourselves having to find multiple good players to be competitive in the coming season.
We don?t know the details but how can the money generated at The Nest and Padel Courts next to Meadow Lane, even if another company with the same people behind it, be a bad thing for Notts?
You could very well be right, different players, more investment in January could have got us to League One last season.
Trust in the recruitment that got McGoldrick, Abbott and others in.
