    The negativity

Absolutely not trying to start a war of words and those of a negative persuasion towards the current owners, are more that’s welcome to give their thoughts.

I find the current negativity towards the ownership completely baffling, I really do. Quite interested to know the age demographic of those currently not happy.

For what it’s worth, I am 40 this year and believe these to be the best owners we’ve had since I got into supporting Notts about 8 or 9 years old. In my time, we dropped down the leagues and spent the majority of years in L2.

I’ve been at Meadow Lane on a Tuesday night with 3000 others watching only 30< journeymen and 20> youth team cast offs struggling to avoid relegation with not two pennies to rub together.

I’ve seen a fake take over nearly put us out of business and 2 subsequent egotistical owners conspire to taking us out of the league.

We now owners who are growing the club off the pitch, investing in infrastructure and additional income sources that will see us out live most clubs in the decades to come.

We get 10000+ gates in L2 regardless of current form.

We choose and pay fees for players rather than pick up the crap no one else wanted. We sell players for big money.

We make the tough decisions when needed. Change of manager this summer, change of full defence last.

My only criticism is that we made a mistake with our last managerial appointment and have had two poor January transfer windows. That’s it. Hopefully we are rectifying the manager issue as I type and I’d imagine we won’t make such mistakes this January.

As mentioned, very happy for people to argue against my opinion and tell me why we are in a bad spot. If you don’t mind, please do give an age range. I have a suspicion many negative posters may be ‘Munto’ years or ‘Good old days’ years fans which would partly explain the different view.

You've got to remember this board doesn't represent a majority of supporters, and it's pretty much a pool of moaners, and always has been.

Bang on, the 10k plus gates for multiple seasons show most very much buy into whats happening at ML

It's a board that is the only means of finding out what is happening for a lot of supporters that do not live in or near Nottm. And I bet this is a good cross-section, the one's that actually moan, instead of being critical of a few things, are few and far between.

I suppose people feel more moved to write about what they disagree rather than agree with, so message boards always tend to have a predominantly negative slant, but you're right, the vast majority of Notts fans I meet are not keyboard warriors and their view is generally far more positive than what you read on here.

You'll always get that 'echo chamber' effect on social media, and of course there's nothing wrong with having a place for a minority to vent, as long as the club leadership don't get unduly influenced by it. Unfortunately, that was where Trew and Hardy came a cropper, because they came here looking for popularity, which will only ever be fleeting in a place like this!

I don't think that's true at all, especially during Maynards reign, those I meet in the nest or at the game, have been scathing of the situation on the pitch specifically.

Plenty don't post here but you must have heard the booing several times at games, was that out of positivity?

Moaning about moaning is worse than the actual moaning on here. If this is a tiny misrepresentative cross-section on here, why do ten times as many moan on Twitter?

And if our owners were perfect, we wouldn't be where we are, would we? They do some good things and some bad things, we can't say it's all good or all bad.

65, btw, is there any particular reason why the 'good old days fans' have less valid views than 40 year olds?

Obviously not, and I've been one of many on and off this board who became very critical of performances under Stuart Maynard in the second half of the season, where I think there was a growing consensus of dissatisfaction with the Head Coach that ultimately ended in his departure.

What I certainly haven't heard amongst the wider supporter base is any significant criticism of the owners and the general way in which the club is being run. Most fans I speak with are broadly happy with progress and understanding that there are ups and downs along the way, including more successful and less successful cases of player and indeed head coach recruitment.

I haven't heard anyone claiming our owners are perfect, indeed I think it's an unquantifiable and unattainable bar to meet. However, "where we are" is: no longer facing the financial meltdowns of the past, back in the Football League, and having just finished in 6th place in League Two, which granted fell slightly short of many people's hopes this season including the owners, but it's still not a bad place to be compared with where we were just over five years ago.
