Ideally the management team are all on the same page which on the whole for us it has been imo.
Agreed. We are in a good position after all that's gone before, new manager, new HR, new pre-season, new season. If things are done right and matters are dealt with to suit all parties this could well be all the jigsaw pieces fitting?

There?s pluses and minuses of both ways, Liverpool have a head coach and have just won the prem, they?re been very considerate in their recruitment and they?ve managed to bridge the gap with other big spenders.

If I owned Notts I would go down the HC route, as in my view is why would you let someone have the main control of your recruitment funds when on average their only with clubs for little over a year.

I think in 2 or 3 years it will be the norm over here.

It?s not like our owners are idiots, every manager we?ve had has said how supportive they are and said it when they?ve left, obviously they won?t publicly dig them out but you can usually read between the lines if they haven?t been happy.

HC yes but he/she has to have a very big input.

Didn't Williams have a lot of input over transfers? It's all about trust, if they believe the manager has something to say and it's working as a club, it's not as if they're gonna say no when he comes knocking.

It's perhaps too brutal to say we want a yes man but I suspect we're wanting a candidate who's prepared to work in a collegiate way with the board and the rest of the senior management team
With the recruitment dept. bringing in players that can be improved and hopefully sold on at a profit, regardless of whether they play in positions where we are short
It's unlikely that any high profile candidates will work under those terms, when after all, it's the manager who gets the sack if he doesn't get success (even if his title is 'head coach')
Weve just watched 7 out of the 8 promotion places in league 2 in the last 2 years being filled by teams with experienced, successful EFL managers. You can look at the manager lineup for next season and have a decent guess about who will do well. Youre no doubt right but I wont be high fiving anyone when Anders Smegstrom gets announced in the next few days.

The owners have a zero success rate in appointing coaches since we were promoted, I really hope they get the next one right.

He did, sounded like he brought Baldwin in, said when signing he had worked with Randall before (perhaps he shouldn?t have inputted) and obviously his decision on Bostock when training with Notts and that?s why I?m surprised quite a few are saying the owners want a yes man, I have no idea what their basing it on?

Speaking of Williams, Joey Barton?s the same odds proving absolutely no one knows a thing. Steve Evans would have me slightly tearing at my season ticket, I?d be purchasing a shredder if he came in.

So we have not been successful in getting promoted since we last got promoted..... Bit of a weird statement. Do agree though that the experiment with unproven managers at this level did not work with SM.

I think the HC concept is best as it offer continuity on team and style whereas with managers the entire squad can virtually become redundant and need replacing if the next manager has a different idea of play and players.

He had a degree of input but still a number of players came in who he didn't really want
    Some worked out, some didn't
He was asking for defenders in January in our first L2 season but we recruited forwards instead including Morias
Would he have left anyway when Swansea came in?
Probably , as would most of us in his position

Fair point, I should have added *in the EFL*. And yes they have only appointed 1. But he was sh!t.
